What a wonderful, tucked away cottage, with everything you need. We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay here and wished we had longer. The scenery and walks are wonderful, with plenty of walks right on your doorstep through the farmland or higher up on the hills, where you can see the remnants of a roman fort (expect to get a bit muddy in wetter weather, but the vestibule and utility room are perfectly placed to get out of your muddy boots and get dry before entering the cottage). Our dog Merlin loved it too! It was the switch-off we needed and we wouldn't hesitate to come back. Thank you John and Meg for creating such a wonderful place to stay and your thoughtful touches in the cottage.

Beautiful cottage in beautiful settings however the listing doesn't explain just how remote/rural the area is. Also, there has been a lot of bad weather and many of the roads (single lane tracks)in the area are in terrible condition. Even the farm roads are not in great condition and I was genuinely worried about my car the whole time. The owner was lovely and checked in with me and the cottage is very well equipped and cosy. There are house rules not listed on the cottage page however and had I known about them I wouldn't have booked. Dogs not allowed on furniture or upstairs. Listing also says fuel for fire included which is not accurate as they have an honesty box which you're expected to contribute to. I would say this would be fantastic in the warmer lighter months but less so in winter.
