Welcome to Sgubor Fach, a luxurious holiday cottage set in quiet, rural countryside, within walking distance of the pretty village of Penybontfawr which has a post office/village shop, and a pub which serves evening meals. Ideally situated for exploring the the beautiful mid Wales countryside. Snowdonia national park is just a few miles away. Sgubor Fach is a recently converted barn with a traditional feel, sympathetically furnished retaining some original features, outdoor patio and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
Inside you will find a master bedroom with a kingsized bed, covered with elegant bed linen, and patio doors with Juliet balcony. There is also a further bedroom with a super kingsized bed which can convert to two singles, making Sgubor Fach ideal for families up to four (plus infant – travel cot available), couples or a small group of friends who want to get away from it all. Radiators in all rooms. You’ll find everything you need with two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and an area to hang your coats and shoes after a day of exploring or whatever you fancy! For the kids a travel cot, and highchair can be provided.
Sgubor Fach is in the Tanat Valley, so you will have no shortage of local pubs, restaurants and other places to eat out. You are also spoilt for choice with both Lake Vyrnwy and the magnificent Llanrhaeadr waterfall nearby. The village is surrounded by steep hills, forests and waterfalls and is an excellent start from which to explore the Berwyn mountains. Just five miles away is the quaint village of Llanfyllin, which boasts many shops, restaurants and pubs; or you can drive 30 minutes to Welshpool to visit Powis Castle (National Trust). From the house there is woodland to roam and plenty of local walks to take from nearby. Then, after a day out, why not head back to the cottage to spend the evening sat on the patio gazing up at the stars?

Lovely barn conversion, clean and warm, everything you need at hand. We cooked in the evening and found that the oven lnobs could do with being marked up so we know what settings we had things on.Recycling rubbish was difficult as we have a different system where we live. Ric the owner and wife are very hands on and took us around the property showing us around, they made a lovely fresh bread.They also made us aware we accidentally left our outside light on.It’s quiet peaceful and dark if arriving after dark, we was met by the owner and then drove into the gate that accidentally knock out wing mirror as we hadn’t seen it in the dark.Great places in the area to visit and a lovely stay

Lovely mini break at this beautiful cottage. The single track and steep turn into the drive could be challenging for some cars but definitely need a car to get about to see local and more far away sights. Friendly hosts with an adorable dog. My 5 year old daughter loved sitting in the hall window watching the cows and sheep.

We had an amazing stay here and would absolutely go back! You ideally need a vehicle of your own to get around because there is so much to see and explore in the area and beyond! Or lock yourself up for pure peace and quiet and enjoy stargazing at night. We are thinking on going back for a cozy winter weekend.Natalie and Ric the hosts are real gems. They are very welcoming and really have got this barn to a very Hugh standard. Everything you need is there from tv, cozy fire and a kitchen kitted out to die for! I could live in the kitchen and just enjoy cooking and baking all weekend.
