Guests consistently report that the cottage is clean, indicating high standards of cleanliness throughout the property.

The location is highly regarded for its tranquillity, proximity to a pub, and scenic canal walks, although it is noted to be a bit far from some attractions.

While the sitting room with its open fire is considered cosy, guests report the bedrooms and downstairs bathroom can be chilly, and some find the single bed mattresses uncomfortable.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, but some guests encountered issues with heating control, steep stairs, and a lack of Wi-Fi, which affects the facilities score.

There are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner, so this category cannot be scored.

The good points:Beautiful location, very peaceful, the only sound at night was owls calling. Lovely views & good walking straight from the door along the towpaths in various directions. Nice to watch the occasional canal boat drift by.. The pub a few doors down does decent food. The cottage was clean and generally well equipped. The open fire was a bonus, making the sitting room nice & cosy in November. Some fuel is provided but in cold weather you will need more. Dont forget firelighters!Things to bear in mind:We found the cottage to be rather chilly, especially the downstairs bathroom & the bedrooms (upstairs). The centrsl heating cannot be turned up as the temperature is set by the owner & the controls are in a locked perspex box. Radiators became barely warm during our stay. We found the single bed mattresses to be uncomfortable; could feel the lumps of the springs digging in. May be ok for children or very light adults? No wifi. Didnt bother us at all as we went to disconnect & relax.Would love to visit the area again during warmer weather.

Very comfy cottage. Would have like WIFI but not an issue. Enjoyed the open log fire as it was chilly weather. A good place to relax and chill out. The nearby Hollybush Inn is a good place to eat out and friendly staff. Overall very pleasant long weekend.

Nice cottage. Would have liked WiFi. Had to replace batteries for remote to get the TV to work. Stairs very steep. Location was good in that it was next to the canal but was quite far away from all Peak District attractions.
