Guests say

Broad Down Lodge in Malvern, Worcestershire, is praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and superb location. Guests appreciate the proximity to a dog-friendly pub with excellent food. The lodge offers a relaxing environment with well-maintained grounds and thoughtful touches, although some guests noted areas for improvement in maintenance and facilities.

Most guests found the lodge and the park clean and tidy, with only a few isolated comments about cleanliness issues. The positive remarks suggest a high standard of cleanliness overall.

The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, easy access to local attractions, and the convenience of having a welcoming pub nearby. The scenic countryside setting is a highlight for many visitors.

Guests generally found the lodge comfortable, with special mentions of the beds and the spacious main bedroom. However, there were some concerns about the comfort of the beds and the snugness of the second bedroom.

Facilities are deemed adequate by most, with a few maintenance issues such as a dripping tap and a problematic cooker. The prompt response to a gas outage indicates good service, but the recurring maintenance points lead to a slightly lower score.

While guests have mentioned various positive aspects of their stay, there are no specific references to gifts or special thoughtful gestures provided by the hosts. Therefore, a score cannot be given in this category.

The wall lights in the bedroom are wobbly. There are air fresheners everywhere - even in the wardrobe. A good clean would make it smell better! The towels were hard and rough. There's nowhere in the bathroom, neither shelves or cupboard to put toiletries. There's no window covering in the bathroom - although the blind fitments are there. The oven is a disgrace. It's dirty inside and the door doesn't fit properly. The numbers have all worn off on the knobs and the ignition doesn't work. There's a metal protector to pull out (a label tells you to) when using the grill, it's all gummed up with old food fat and dirt, almost impossible to move. The cupboards are full of stuff other people have left behind. The kitchen tap is still dripping - after reviews going back to April saying the same thing. The bowl is too big for the sink and, like the drainer on the side of the sink, is old and dirty. The inside of the kettle had to be scrubbed to get rid of the limescale before we could use it. The kitchen blind is filthy. The menus in the folder, for the pub, are way out of date and there's very little information. The steps up to the door are rotting and the outside light doesn't work. I can't comment on the pillows or duvet - we'd read previous comments and thought it best to take our own. There are cobwebs absolutely everywhere and all the doors and window frames look as though they could do with a good scrub It could be a lovely holiday lodge but it's so very uncared for - so unfair to take people's money and offer the lodge in the state it's in.

Having The Duke of York pub was fantastic. Unfortunately the lodge itself is very tired. Dripping tap in the kitchen, which was annoying. The bed wasn't great. The pillows had a nasty smell and the duvet is very lumpy and needs replacing. The oven is dirty. The TV electric's to the mains were taped up.
