About this property

Tucked away in Thornton, West Yorkshire, is this lovely two-bedroom terraced cottage, 11 Lane End. Enjoying an idyllic setting within easy reach of the local amenities, 11 Lane End is a fantastic choice for couples or a family of four. The former gatekeeper’s cottage enjoys roadside parking, access to a shared garden with furniture, and a private garden with lawn. Step into the inviting open-plan living space, where you will find a wonderful sitting area with plush seating, a TV and a crackling woodburning stove, perfect for relaxing evenings in with loved ones. Impress your guests with delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen, ready to savour at the dining table for four over a bottle of wine. Upstairs, you will find a well-appointed bathroom, complete with beautiful freestanding bath, handheld shower, and a walk-in shower, ideal for freshening up after a day of exploring. When sleep calls, retreat to one of two tastefully decorated bedrooms, a super-king-size with zip/link or a double, both with plenty of storage. Explore the village, where you can treat your loved ones to a meal at Ring O’Bells, The New Inn, Blue Boar and Manzil, stock up on essentials at the convenience store, and visit the Grade II listed Thorton Viaduct. Continue into Bradford, where you will find the Bradford Industrial Museum, housed in a 19th-century mill, the National Science and Media Museum, Cartwright Hall, Bradford Cathedral, Bradford Moor Golf Club, and a wealth of restaurants, pubs, and shops. Next stop is Haworth, well-known for its links to the Bronte Sisters, where you can tour the Bronte Parsonage Museum, sample local ales in the Wuthering Heights pub, or hop aboard the heritage Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for a relaxing 5-mile ride. Further afield is Keighley, home to Cliffe Castle, Keighley Bus Museum, Lund Park, and the nearby National Trust site of Ease Riddlesden Hall. All this and more awaits at 11 Lane End.

This friendly stone-built village can be found in the quaint outskirts of the well-stocked city of Bradford. Thornton has a lot of great places to eat, drink, and shop, including a cafe in the same house where the Bronte sisters were born before their family moved to Haworth. From the nearby Headley Golf Course, you may admire the stunning Grade II-listed Thornton Viaduct on the outskirts of the settlement. Bradford is worth the short travel for its spectacular architecture, plenty of shops, cafes, and cafés, and wide variety of things to do. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is easily accessible for anyone who enjoy being outside; the park's lovely terrain is perfect for a variety of outdoor activities. Haworth, where you'll find the Bronte family house, is only a short drive away. Keighley isn't much further away, and magnificent shopping mecca Leeds is only across Bradford.

The owners were very close by and helpful with a query about the heating. Would go back any time.

Lovely welcome with basket, tea, coffee, biscuits and a bottle of wine. The bathroom has underfloor heating which is much appreciated as it was a snowy, chilly day. There is a log burner, the CO-OP is a two minute walk and sells logs. Cottage is ideally located for Bradford, nice walks. We visited Saltaire. A map would have been helpful to find the cottage, as it’s off the road down approx 12 shallow steps. Fortunately the locals are very friendly and took us there. The lack of a table was the only slight inconvenience for us as there were 4 people in total and we like to eat at a table. There is a space for two to sit at a breakfast bar though. Many thanks.
