Guests say

Netherscar is highly praised for its breathtaking panoramic views, peaceful rural setting, and direct access to excellent walking routes. Guests appreciate the well-equipped cottage, cosy atmosphere, and spacious garden, making it ideal for families, walkers, and dog owners. The owners are frequently described as friendly and helpful. While some mention minor maintenance issues and the peaty water, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests returning for repeat visits and recommending the property for a relaxing countryside escape.

Most guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, with several noting improvements over previous visits. However, a small number of reviews mention the need for a deeper clean or renovation, particularly in relation to the water supply and some areas of the property.

The location is universally praised for its stunning views, tranquillity, and proximity to walking routes and local attractions. The remote setting is a highlight for most guests, though a few note the access road is bumpy and signage could be improved.

Guests generally find the cottage cosy and comfortable, especially with the fire and well-equipped kitchen. Some mention issues with heating controls, a broken mattress spring, and an uncomfortable sofa, but these are outweighed by positive comments about restful stays and improvements made.

The cottage is described as well-equipped, with everything needed for self-catering and family stays. Some guests mention maintenance issues such as heating controls, unclear cooker markings, and minor repairs needed, but overall facilities are considered good for a rural property.

Several guests mention thoughtful touches such as welcome eggs, jams, and bottled water on arrival, as well as helpful communication from the owners. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Ingleton 5 miles; Hawes 12 miles.

A detached house situated in a haven of peace and tranquillity and offering arguably one of the best views in England. The property is situated at the end of a private road in the scattered hamlet of Chapel-le-Dale and offers incredible views of Ingleborough and distant views of the Ribblehead Viaduct. It offers comfortable and well-equipped accommodation and there is excellent walking from the doorstep. Ideal for an 'away from it all' holiday.

The attractive village of Ingleton is nestled beneath Ingleborough, one of the famous ‘Three Peaks' on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Offering a wide range of shops, pubs and places to eat, the winding streets of this pretty village all converge on a central market place. A mile outside of Ingleton and down the Hawes road are the well known White Scar Caves. Open to the public, these caves display a huge number of caverns full of stalactites and stalagmites, with one cave home to a huge underground lake. The superb ‘Falls Walk' offers an interesting circuit which takes in some of the impressive cascading waterfalls of the area whilst the proximity to both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake distract make this an excellent place for walkers.

Lots to do in the area ,we had a lovely time. The road up to the house is narrow and winding but it wasn’t a problem . The sun room was a delight to sit in with super comfy seats. Only one slight problem was the oven as we couldn’t read the temperature markings so a little guess work was needed. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable week away from the humdrum of daily life . Thank you .

We sat for hours watching the landscape change. Despite its remote location, you’re only 15 mins away from Ingleton which has everything you need to get by. Settle is a lovely drive and a nice little place to wander round. We cannot wait to come back.

The weather was amazing, sunshine every day. we did the waterfall walk at Ingleton, a bit of a challenge for us 70 yr olds but certainly worth the effort. The location of Netherscar is possibly one of the best in the Dales - the night sky - all the stars amazing with no light pollution. Vicky had the log burner alight for us on arrival which was so appreciated as it had rained all that day. We love Netherscar and know we will be back again.
