Set in Cardinal Court, a stone-fronted building in the historic Yorkshire town of Masham, is Brewers Den, a fabulous ground-floor apartment, so called because it was here that Theakstons brewery first stored their casks of ale in the vaulted cellars beneath. Entering the living space, complete with traditional pine boarded flooring, prepare meals for two in the well-equipped kitchen, before gathering around the barrel dining table, ready to plan your forthcoming itinerary. Relax in the traditionally styled sitting area, dotted with distillery memorabilia, either in front of the TV or with one of many books on offer, ahead of some fresh air upon the outdoor seating area. As dusk sets in, venture through the natural slate hallway, and retire to the homely double bedroom, rising to a refreshing shower within the fully tiled bathroom, ready to explore North Yorkshire. Heading into Masham, savour a morning coffee at Border House Teas, enjoy a romantic meal at The White Bear, and grab the essentials from the local Co-op; the area is dotted with amenities including craft shops, pubs, galleries, butchers, an ice cream shop, and two well-known breweries, Theakstons of old peculiar fame and Black Sheep brewery, along with the Spirit of Masham Distillery, offering tours and tastings of local gin. You will also arrive at the towns market square where there is a market every Wednesday and Saturday

Whilst on your travels, Swinton Castle, Jervaulx Abbey, Brimham Rocks, and Fountains Abbey are must-visits, along with trips to the ancient city of York, home to a bustling Jorvik visitor centre. Located beside the River Ure in the lower parts of picturesque Wensleydale is the little, ancient market town of Masham. The town, which is situated in gently undulating farmland, features a sizable market square where a Wednesday market has been joined by a well-liked Saturday market. Numerous hikes are available, including a 10-mile trek down the Ure, which is regarded as one of the greatest in the UK. Theakstons of Old Peculiar renown and the Black Sheep Brewery, which currently produces 11 million pints of beer annually, are two brewers that call this town home. The town also offers a good selection of galleries, shops, restaurants, and pubs. A short drive will take you to the well-known towns of Ripon, Thirsk, Northallerton, Richmond, and Harrogate. This is a terrific location for a vacation in any season because there is so much to see and do nearby.
