Step back in time to beamed ceilings, real open fires and carpeted floors. Stay in this traditional stone cottage conveniently situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Please be aware there is no garden at the property. Gayle is a small village near the Pennine Way within walking distance of the market town of Hawes, where there is a host of shops, pubs and restaurants. A pretty stream with waterfalls runs close to the cottage and a few miles away at Garsdale station you can join the famous Settle-Carlisle railway.

Despite the weather being awful and both of us being ill, we still had a lovely week in Gayle Farmhouse. The storage heaters are surprisingly effective and the fire lights easily (and fuel supplies were extremely generous), so we were very warm and cosy. The cottage is charming and well equipped (although cleaning out the fire was tricky with the ash pan being broken - a dedicated dustpan and brush would be useful). There are loads of walks to be done from the front door, and everything you might need just up the road in Hawes. The valley is incredibly beautiful! We highly recommend heading to the Snaizeholme red squirrel sanctuary; the viewing area was like something in a Disney film. And Hardraw Force is magical.

Great location with walks straight from the property, The frozen rivers and waterfalls were amazing. Everything we needed was provided a lovely week with our dogs.

We loved the Gayle cottage. We used it as home base for driving in the Dales. Loved breakfast at the creamery!!!
