About this property

A stone-built, terraced cottage located on the outskirts of the pretty little Wensleydale village of West Witton. Skilfully renovated, the property is cosy and warm and full of character and charm with a real Dales personality. There are two bedrooms; the double has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, whilst the single is cosy and stylish, and both are served by a modern shower room. This West Witton cottage features a spacious living room, complete with a cosy woodburner and original oak beams, offering an ideal place to curl up by the fire and look forward to the evening’s fare after a day out on the nearby fells. The modern kitchen, equipped with every home-from-home convenience, leads to an enclosed rear area with raised decking, complete with garden furniture, barbecue area and panoramic views of Pen Hill, the highest point in Wensleydale. This delightful West Witton cottage has several walks leading from the door, including the challenging Pen Hill and walks across the moor to Carlton in Coverdale. The historic market town of Richmond is just a short drive away with its interesting castle, theatre, military museum and wonderful architecture. The popular Wensleydale town of Leyburn can also be found within a short drive, offering a choice of tea rooms, quaint gift shops and convenience stores, and provides the entrance to the stunning Wensleydale countryside, with its green rolling hills and dry stone walls providing shelter for the thousands of iconic Yorkshire sheep that graze on the hillsides. Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force, England's highest single drop waterfall, are also all within easy reach of your West Witton cottage. An ideal West Witton cottage and a perfect romantic retreat for those wishing to enjoy fine country living, beautiful walks and the tranquillity of this Dales location.

The pretty, ancient Wensleydale village of West Witton is situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, between Leyburn and Hawes. A traditional old village made up of stone-built cottages and farmhouses, West Witton enjoys dramatic views of Penhill and its limestone scars, along with Bolton Castle, lush rolling countryside and the surrounding fells.

It was spotless. The owners were at end of the phone if needed. The only thing for us, was, we didn’t find the bed very comfortable. But that wasn’t a fault, it was a personal feeling.

Aileen and Colin have literally thought of everything! The whole accommodation is absolutely spotless so hats off to the cleaner - I was very impressed! The cottage is ideally located for easy access to Aysgarth Falls, Castle Bolton, Leyburn, Hawes and Richmond with plentiful walks from your doorstep, so much so that you could park your car up and not touch it again for a week. There are 2 pubs within a couple of minutes walk, and 2 more in Carlton and Wensley which are a 5 minute car ride away or as part of a walk for a well-earned pit stop pint and bite to eat. The added bonus of an enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs as well as being a lovely place to relax and unwind in the sunshine. I would highly recommend Myrtle Cottage, its just perfect in every way.
