Located within stunning rolling green countryside between the popular dales market towns of Leyburn and Bedale is ’The Smithy’. This beautifully presented semi detached cottage formerly calf pens has been lovingly restored and converted by the owners to create wonderful accommodation, oozing with charm and character. The open plan living area is light and airy with patio doors leading to a private sunny patio to the rear. To the front is a second patio and use of a shared lawned orchard, ideal for capturing the sunshine from dawn until dusk. There are two cosy bedrooms one providing a double bed with luxurious en suite bath/shower room. The second providing zip and link twin beds creating a king size bed if requested and a stylish en suite equipped with a large walk in shower, making it the ideal accommodation for families or two couples who may like to holiday together. Shop 3 miles, pub 500 yards and restaurant 5 miles.
Shared use of extensive lawned area. Up to four dogs only, owner may accept more on request. First 2 dogs go free, any aditional dogs are charge at £20 per dog.

The owners were on site and friendly. However we had issues with the underfloor heating not working efficiently throughout our stay. Attempts to rectify came to nothing. Complained twice about the towel rail being hot at the bottom cold at the top, this was our only heat source in the bathroom. Was rectified with 3 days left of our stay. The fridge did not work on our arrival another was ordered, but did not arrive for our stay. There was an electric fire, however this was not enough to heat the property with the cold temperatures outside. The place itself was lovely, however the issues we had spoiled our stay. The electrician didn't solve the heating problem. I felt awkward complaining to the owners, but justified, two of the party were elderly in their 80s.the owners were friendly in response however our issues were not solved. Heating and fridge is a must for any stay and should be checked all is working properly before paying guests arrival.

We absolutely loved the Smithy ! It was spotlessly clean , warm and very comfortable . Our host was helpful and friendly and provided tea , coffee , milk and biscuits for our arrival . The location is beautiful and peaceful and within easy drives to Richmond and Leyburn and a short walk to village pub . Thank you so much Sue for sharing this beautiful cottage with us and we will be back x

Beautiful cottage and quiet location. Cottage had everything you needed and the fresh milk, eggs, biscuits and teabags were a lovely surprise. Local pub is a 5 minute walk away, food was delicious, the roaring fire was perfect on a cold night. Highly recommend The Smithy 👌
