The best bit about Beacon farm is the freshly made ice cream, you can enjoy it here in the café. There are many pretty resorts dotted along the coast, including Sandsend, Runswick Bay, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay, which are great for exploring our maritime history, including Captain James Cook, smugglers and pirates. There are water sports, surf schools and even whale watching trips to be found along the coast. The North York Moors National Park and surrounding area is a haven for walkers and cyclists, and many walks can be accessed from your doorstep, including the Cleveland Way, a riverside walk along the River Esk and a lovely coastal walk along the Cinder Track between Whitby and Scarborough, via Robin Hood’s Bay.

Travel by steam train into the heart of ’Heartbeat’ country or take a fishing trip out to sea on one of the many boat trips that leave the harbour. Falling Foss Waterfall, Roseberry Topping and Dalby Forest are just some of the natural beauty attractions in the area. The traditional seaside town of Scarborough is just along the coast with its open-air theatre as well as two large bays of contrasting styles. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

We had a wonderful stay at Bailey’s Retreat. It is a beautiful place in a great location, with absolutely fantastic views from both the sitting room and the bedroom. Waking up and enjoying the scenery through the windows was truly special. The property is only a few minutes away from the charming fishing town of Whitby, which makes it perfect for exploring the area. Whitby is full of character, history, cosy cafés, and lovely seaside walks. Sneaton is peaceful and scenic, offering stunning countryside views and a relaxing atmosphere — the perfect balance between quiet retreat and easy access to town.If I may suggest one small improvement, the windows could perhaps be cleaned more often, both inside and outside, to fully enjoy the beautiful views.Overall, we had a fantastic stay. We will definitely return and happily recommend Bailey’s Retreat to our friends.

This is a beautiful apartment. It is so well laid out and well equipped, with a little basket of tea and coffee on arrival - which was very much appreciated. It smelt beautiful and clean and everywhere was spotless with soft fluffy towels and bedding. The location is stunning. The views are incredible and it’s so quick to go in to Whitby and other beautiful locations. The kids loved the Wii and their own TV (so did we - the peace and quiet!).The bath is amazing. A little bit of luxury. The only slight gripe was on both arrival and departure a large truck was parked in the loading area for several hours meaning we had to carry our luggage from the parking lot which was a bit of a trek but the extra steps just meant we could have an extra few biscuits! We will definitely visit again.

A graded listed build , kept to a classic standard. The apartment is spacious, high ceilings with numeral rooms. The view from the of the apartment windows are amazing. The bed linen smelt fresh and clean. Thus though winter weather, the place was the correct temperature. A rural area hence the views compliment natures surround. Easy to find if you read the instructional directions; quite a prominent notable house. We enjoyed our stay with intent to return again, hence highly recommend. Generous supply of tea, coffee, milk, biscuits. Lots of amazing places to visit , falling foss, Whitby, sleight’s, Staith, Robin hoods bay . Are near proximity yet a drive away.
