Eskside Cottage in Whitby is a well-loved property praised for its comfort, cosy warmth, and ideal location for exploring the North York Moors & Coast. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the welcome hamper, adding a touch of thoughtfulness to their stay. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many guests considering return visits.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and comfortable, with only a few isolated reports of dust and cobwebs. The majority of reviews do not raise cleanliness as an issue, suggesting that these instances are exceptions rather than the norm.
The location is frequently praised for its proximity to local amenities, the coast, and the moors. The convenience of having a pub and fish & chip shop around the corner is often mentioned, although a few guests noted the busy nearby road.
Guests consistently describe the beds as comfortable and the cottage as cosy and warm. Some guests suggested improvements to the mattresses and garden furniture for enhanced comfort.
The cottage is well-equipped with a modern kitchen and bathroom. However, several reviews mention issues with maintenance such as the garden's condition, water pressure, and minor repairs needed. These are balanced by positive comments on the overall standard of facilities.
While guests express gratitude for the welcome hamper, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of thoughtfulness across all stays. As such, while the gesture is appreciated, it cannot be guaranteed for future guests.

The facilities were amazing and the secure garden great for the dog. One of the best cottages we've used and we've used a lot! We would definitely like to revisit for longer in the future.

Location is fab, close to Whitby but without the parking hassles. The weekend has been very cold but the cottage was lovely and warm and cosy with everything we needed to warm up and enjoy a couple of family evenings in. Did venture out one evening to enjoy local pub The Plough which is just around corner and served good food - though was shut on Monday otherwise we would have returned there. Cotyage was clean ans comfortable with an enviable bathroom - teenager enjoyed relaxing in the rolltop bath. Kitchen had everything we needed to make some basic meals (could have made more than that but was there for a break). For us, the only niggle, and one clear in the description was only having one loo but that is just because we are used to different - could the under stairs cupboard house a downstairs loo? This would then make for a perfect holiday cottage for us. Thanks for the welcome pack too - lovely touch (would have enjoyed some local jam or honey rather than maybe the chocolate - but this is meant as a suggestion not a criticism). Thanks for a lovely cosy stay x
Helen
In a good location to the moors and coast and nearby facilities. Particularly enjoyed the fish and chips from Sleights chippy! It was lovely to feel very welcome by the gift of local coffee, biscuits, tea etc. A lot of cottages Iâve stayed in have lacked this welcome parcel. Totally recommend!! Will be returning in future.
