Guests say

South View Cottage in Whitby is a well-received holiday rental with a beautiful garden and convenient location. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, comfortable setting, and thoughtful touches like a welcome pack. While parking can be tight and some minor maintenance issues are noted, the cottage's charm and proximity to local attractions make it a popular choice.

Most guests report the cottage as spotless and clean, with only one review mentioning dust and pet hairs. The housekeepers are noted for performing deep cleans, indicating a high standard of cleanliness overall.

The location is frequently praised for its peacefulness, proximity to Whitby, beaches, and local amenities. The convenience for buses, trains, and the village's offerings contribute to a high location score.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with special mentions of the garden and the view. However, some guests suggest that the beds and sofas could be more comfortable, which slightly lowers the comfort score.

The welcome pack is frequently mentioned and appreciated, showing thoughtfulness. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this is reflected in the score.

The kitchen was well equipped. The area is lovely and peaceful - it was nice to get away from busy Whitby. The garden is great, although our dog did find he could get out to to the neighbours via the left fence. 2 issues to report: 1. In the double bedroom the window frame is rotten and needs urgent attention - we had to leave the right window shut in case the glass fell out! 2. The BBQ grill was left in the locked shed so was not available for us to use.

It is ideally situated for visiting the North Yorkshire coast. It has a large lawned area at the back which is ideal for pets and a patio for outside eating. There is a lovely Riverside Garden Centre 5 minutes walk away which does lovely food in a lovely setting. There is also a railway station close by where you can take a train into Whitby. We have always enjoyed our holidays here and can recommend this property as a lovely place/area to stay.
