About this property

Positioned in the village of Sandsend on the North Yorkshire Coastline, is this pretty cottage, Stonewall Cottage. This two-bedroom cottage is the perfect place for a family getaway. It's got a contemporary interior and a woodburning stove for those snug evenings inside and is also near to the beach. Leave your vehicle on the roadside and discover the front patio garden, which offers furniture and a barbecue for an alfresco affair in the sun. The living/dining room is a perfect space for hosting guests, with a sitting area and plush sofas, a smart TV, and a dining area to enjoy mealtimes together. Stepping through the property, the kitchen is well-equipped with essential appliances, including an electric oven and hob and a fridge. After a day filled with fun, you can refresh in the ground-floor wet room with a rinse under the shower as your towels keep toasty on the heated rail. When sleep calls, venture upstairs to choose between two bedrooms, with a delightful double with tasteful furniture and a bunk bedroom with individual reading lights and charging stations. Just moments away is the golden sands of Sandsend Beach; here you can fly a kite or unwind on a towel with a book and to refuel, there is The Hart Inn for a pint and hearty pub fayre. Visit Whitby, a historic town with plenty of things to see and do. The most popular attractions are Whitby Abbey, the 199 Steps, and Whitby Museum. There is also plenty of shopping, dining, and nightlife to enjoy. Robin Hood's Bay is a charming coastal town in North Yorkshire, England. The National Trust Coastal Centre is a must-see attraction in Robin Hood's Bay, as is Old St Stephen's Church. For a memorable getaway with your loved ones, secure a stay at Stonewall Cottage.

Lying on Yorkshire's spectacular Heritage Coastline, Sandsend is the ideal place for a family holiday with its award winning, wide sweeping beaches, rock pools and dramatic cliffs. Indeed this part of the coastline is known locally as the Dinosaur Coast because of the many fossils found here. Children will enjoy damming the little beck where it crosses the beach to form a freshwater lagoon - great (and safe) for paddling and boating! For the more energetic the village sits on the lovely long distance Cleveland Way Trail, which offers great off-road cycling along the disused coastal railway as well as breathtaking clifftop walks. The National Trust now own the nearby headland, Sandsend Ness, where there is a delightful nature trail in the old quarry pits. A special place offering something for everyone!

We noticed that heating was turned down and on for only a short period? The bathroom towel rail wasn’t working, but overall we enjoyed our stay and would book again,

We did however find the cottage cold as there didn’t seem to be downstairs heating apart from making up the log burner.

It’s warm and comfortable with a plentiful supply of logs for the stove. The cottage is small , more suitable for one or two people. Wi-Fi and mobile reception were excellent throughout the week I stayed. The kitchen is very small but has most things you would need. However there is no freezer or freezer compartment/ice box, just a fridge. There’s also no microwave. There’s a lovely shower room (no bath) with underfloor heating. Note that if you’re looking for the washing machine it’s in the shower room under the sink in the cupboard. As noted with other reviews parking is a challenge. There is no parking at the cottage itself. The cottage could benefit from curtains or blinds at the lounge window to offer some privacy as it is easy to see in from the outside. I slept well despite the the two storms that hit the are. The main bedroom is nice and comfortable. There’s a second smaller bedroom with bunk beds. To the front of the cottage is a small enclosed garden, there’s a useful hosepipe for washing down dogs and boot cleaning. Overall I enjoyed my stay.
