About this property

Resting in the village of Brayton, just a short walk south of Selby, lies this charming, two-bedroom, mid-terrace holiday home, Blue Bell Cottage. Enjoying off-road parking, garden with corner sofa, and excellent proximity to nearby amenities, this delightful stay welcomes a family of four seeking a relaxing, self-catered escape in the heart of North Yorkshire. Inside, make yourself at home in your new lodgings, where you'll find a well-appointed kitchen/diner, complete with all the appliances the chosen chef will need to cook up a tasty dinner for the whole family to savour around the dining table. In the evenings, gather in the well-presented sitting room, where you can enjoy a film or two on the Smart TV. As day rolls into night, indulge in a long, soapy bath before you finally retire for a well-earned rest in a plush double or twin bedroom. After you've finished your breakfast and coffee at the breakfast bar, step out of your lovely new dwelling and explore what your local surroundings have to offer. Stock up on essentials at Tesco Express, pick up some fresh meat to cook back at home from C Dawson & Sons butchers, amble through the serene, woodland setting of Brayton Barff nature reserve, perfect for dog walks, before settling down for a heart-warming pub dinner at The Swan, which is just a stone's throw from your accommodation. The shortest of car drives north will take you into the market town of Selby, where you can spend time meandering around the scenic greens of Selby Park, take a peaceful stroll along the banks of the River Ouse, and enjoy a meat-filled meal at the Caramba Steakhouse. A day trip to the city of York is also recommended during your stay, with the York Shambles, York City Walls and York Cathedral representing a fraction of what this historic settlement has to offer. Enjoy all of this and so much more when you book a stay at Blue Bell Cottage.

The Domesday Book makes reference to the historic parish of Brayton, a small but charming settlement that dates to Saxon times. There are a number of neighbourhood stores, a butcher, and a lovely town green in addition to a Norman church and an older Methodist chapel. The mediaeval town of Selby, a true hidden gem with an amazing abbey and a superb selection of eateries, is only a couple of miles away. The wonderful city of York, which is also nearby, is brimming with attractions for tourists, including the Minster, its mediaeval walls, boat trips on the River Ouse, York Races, museums (such as the well-known National Railway Museum and the Castle Museum), and the internationally renowned Jorvik Viking Centre and its "time trip" experience. a fantastic vacation spot.

It was warm and cosy despite the very cold weather. Comfortable and good facilities in the kitchen. We feel the steepness of the stairs should have been mentioned in the description.

The cottage was cosy and very comfortable and had everything we needed! Will definitely stay there again. It's also ideally situated to explore that part of Yorkshire and beyond. Thanks Julie!
