About this property

Staithes 2.5 miles. Resting within Runswick Bay, North Yorkshire, near the amenities of Staithes is Foxglove Lodge, a lovely dwelling, located within distance of the North York Moors National Park and shoreline. Take advantage of the peaceful surroundings of Lodge 3 Foxglove, which has two inviting bedrooms, accommodating four guests, that can sleep four people, a private decked area with hot tub, and an open-plan interior. Be delighted by the living area, which has a fully-equipped kitchen, a dedicated dining area, and a welcoming sitting area with an electric fireplace to create a soothing atmosphere. Through the French doors, you can access the decked area, where you'll find patio furniture to relish in an alfresco affair, or to simply relax with a coffee come morning. The lodge houses a king-size and twin bedroom, where you can catch some rest after an evening stargazing in the luxurious hot tub. Enjoy a morning stroll and some fresh air along Runswick Bay Beach before making it into the village for brunch at a nearby café. The beach is also a great place to try your hand at some watersports, from swimming and kayaking, to paddleboarding. For further amenities, including convenience stores, taverns, restaurants, tea rooms, takeaways and fish and chip shops, travel to Stathes, whilst the Cleveland Way leads you to the national park and features 109 miles of breath-taking landscape, the magnificent shoreline, and outlooks over several, charming communities. Stop off in Whitby for a fun-filled itinerary, where you can discover the gothic Whitby Abbey, brush up on your local knowledge at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, and visit a cluster of independent shops and cafés, plus much more. Create priceless memories at Foxglove Lodge.

A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast. There is still an rnli lifeboat station in Staithes, along with a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster. Boat trips are also offered for fishing, birdwatching, and even whale watching. Old Jack's Boat, a well-liked BBC children's television programme, is also filmed there. With an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries, and artist studios that frequently provide art classes and seminars, Staithes has a strong draw for artists. The network of ginnels (alleyways) is navigated by the free Illusion Trail, which also offers local trail guides. The Cleveland Way, which descends the cliff to the sea's edge, offers the best views of the town. All in all, a great starting point for touring the Yorkshire Coast, going to Whitby or Scarborough, or taking in the moorland settlements of the North York Moors National Park.

Clean and kitchen fully equipped with most utensils. Would take my own towels next time, they were provided but my preference would be the larger bath sheets rather than small towels for after shower. The bed was too short, we’re not tall people so anyone over 5’9 would struggle with feet hanging off the end and mattress far too soft, pillows were good though. Hot tub was lovely. No fault of anyone and possibly weather related but the surrounding grass area was so swampy and muddy, retaining water. So taking my dog out to the toilet was a messy business each time. Overall, pleasant stay.
