About this property

Staithes 2.5 miles. Located within the village of Runswick Bay, North Yorkshire, well-positioned near the amenities of Staithes, the North York Moors National Park, and the shoreline is Rose Lodge, a fabulous dwelling. Positioned in a tranquil base, Lodge 6 Rose accommodates four guests over two, lovely bedrooms, whilst complete with an open-plan living space and private decking with hot tub. Be greeted by a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area for four, and a homely sitting area, set within an open-plan space, with the electric fire on in the backdrop, offering a relaxing ambience. Travel through the French doors to access the decked area, perfect for dining alfresco of an evening, or enjoying a coffee come morning. A king-size bedroom with en-suite, and a twin are on offer, where you can catch some rest from after an evening of stargazing from the indulgent hot tub. Awaken to the crisp sea air at Runswick Bay Beach, ahead of enjoying brunch at a nearby café, ready to refuel before an afternoon of watersports, including swimming and kayaking, to paddleboarding. Reach Staithes to ease your stay some more, home to convenience stores, taverns, restaurants, tea rooms, takeaways and fish and chip shops, before following the 109-mile-long Cleveland Way trail, offering breath-taking coastal views, leading you towards the national park. Be sure to stop off at one of the many charming villages dotted across the coastline, with Whitby town as a popular area, where you can tour the gothic remains of Whitby Abbey, dine out and stroll around independent shops, or discover the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, plus many more attractions. For a memorable stay, book Lodge 6 Rose.

A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast. There is still an rnli lifeboat station in Staithes, along with a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster. Boat trips are also offered for fishing, birdwatching, and even whale watching. Old Jack's Boat, a well-liked BBC children's television programme, is also filmed there. With an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries, and artist studios that frequently provide art classes and seminars, Staithes has a strong draw for artists. The network of ginnels (alleyways) is navigated by the free Illusion Trail, which also offers local trail guides. The Cleveland Way, which descends the cliff to the sea's edge, offers the best views of the town. All in all, a great starting point for touring the Yorkshire Coast, going to Whitby or Scarborough, or taking in the moorland settlements of the North York Moors National Park.
