Lodge Yard Barn in York is a well-regarded property with a great location and beautiful decor. Guests appreciate its warmth, proximity to transport links, and local attractions. The en suite shower and cleanliness receive praise, and the nearby pub offers lovely food. Some guests noted a need for better kitchen equipment and tidiness on the terrace.
The property is generally praised for its cleanliness, with the house being described as immaculate and tidy. However, there are concerns about kitchen cleanliness, dishes needing to be washed before use, and stained bed sheets, which slightly lower the score.
The location is highly praised for being perfect and ideal, with easy access to transport links and local attractions. The proximity to a pub serving good food is also appreciated. However, some noise and light pollution are noted, which prevents a perfect score.
Guests find the property comfortable, with a warm atmosphere and good bathroom facilities. The bedrooms are nice, though there is a mention of limited cupboard space. The lounge is small but comfortable. Some guests experienced issues with noise and light in the bedrooms.
The property's facilities are a point of contention. While some guests find the kitchen well-equipped, others report a lack of basic kitchenware, barbecue, and welcome pack. The outside terrace requires maintenance, and there is a mention of a non-functional woodburner.
There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness category. As such, the score is set to null.

We had a nice stay at Lodge Yard Barn and would recommend. It was very clean and tidy and very well laid out. There is a lack of cupboard space in the main bedroom but a good sized wardrobe in the second bedroom. Both bedrooms very nice though. Bathroom facilities were very good and it was a warm cosy place. The kitchen was well equipped and plenty of equipment, plates etc. The lounge area was small but comfortable and an idea would be to include an occasional table so guests can put drinks, food on it if they wished. Just a thought. We would stay again and recommend a visit. The pub opposite served lovely food. A minor technical issue was dealt with promptly by the owner, which was good.

Pleasant, clean and pretty. Loved library - disappointed woodburner inactive. Glasware needed. No breakfast in the deal. The area was noisy round the clock with nearby road traffic and also lots of light pollution and some kind of endles hum from nearby farm/cafe. Travel to the nearest town, Ripon, very roundabout. Getting my (rather large) car in and out of the allotted parking was tricky.

Overall the house was lovely& great location. However, the following needs looked at: 1. Kitchen cupboards need cleaned.2. We had to clean dishes before we used them!3. Kitchen gear not being checked, only 3 desert spoons for house that sleeps 4. No ovengloves, no tea towels, only one dish washer tablet given, no washing machine powder. Its like nobody had walked through whats required for each action. Sink needs a basin, as you have too go to loo to get rid of slops if sink has water in it.4. Sheets should be checked even if looks clean. Bottom sheet on king size bed had old blood marks on it!5. Not sure when owners are back but someone needs to get rid of the 2 oak trees growing in the patio, especial the one at the drain pipe against the wall! The other one is much bigger and in the flower bed beside the keybox. Both will cause damage if not dealt with soon.
