Guests say

The Brae Steading receives glowing praise for its beautiful setting, stunning views, and peaceful atmosphere. Guests consistently highlight the well-equipped, spotless cottage, the relaxing hot tub, and the warm, welcoming hosts. The property is described as a home from home, ideal for both relaxation and exploring the scenic coast and nearby villages. Many guests appreciate the thoughtful touches and dog-friendly environment. Minor suggestions include improved internet and a towel rail, but these do not detract from overwhelmingly positive experiences.

Multiple reviews describe the cottage as spotless, clean, and tidy, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness. This consistent feedback supports a very high score.

Guests frequently praise the rural, peaceful location, breathtaking views, and proximity to beaches and attractions. The only minor note is the need for a car due to the rural setting, but this is not seen as a drawback.

The cottage is repeatedly described as cosy, comfortable, spacious, and a home from home. The large bed and peaceful environment are specifically mentioned as contributing to restful stays.

The property is commended for being well-equipped, with highlights including the hot tub, kitchen, washing machine, and information packs. A couple of minor suggestions for improvement (towel rail, internet, smart TV) are noted but do not significantly impact the overall positive feedback.

Guests frequently mention a generous and thoughtful welcome pack or hamper, as well as the hosts' warm hospitality. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

A peaceful, quiet magical place, the village is a warren of narrow streets and beautiful houses still following a medieval plan, and all wrapped around a magnificent centrepiece, Fordyce Castle, simply sitting on a bend in the village street.

The holiday cottage is very spacious, comfortable and warm, and takes advantage of the panoramic views of both sea and countryside, with the arched French doors in the living room leading to a sunny sitting-out area at the front. Fordyce also offers an attractive park opposite the old kirkyard as well as a Victorian garden. The sandy beach at Sandend is a quick drive or a 45-minute walk from the cottage, where you can safely swim and surfers enjoy the waves. Good coastal walks abound through the old fishing villages of Portsoy and Cullen or alternatively travel inland through castle and whisky country.

There are plenty of golf courses in the vicinity, and the variety of bird and wildlife both onshore and off will please the keen nature lover. A charming bistro just a 10-minute walk away in Fordyce serves delicious seasonal evening meals and weekend lunches (seasonal). Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

A great week in Aberdeenshire. The cottage is well equipped, very spacious and with a fabulous view - it was a bonus to see a Pine Marten wandering past yhe window. Good welcome pack and local shops available in Portsoy for other essentials. Great beaches at Findhorn, Lossiemouth, Cullen and Sandend. Elgin Cathedral, Gordon Castle Walled Garden, Tarlair lLdo, Cullen and Portsoy all worth a visit. Super takeaway fish and chips from Portknockie. Sadly Olde Kirk Bistro closed while we were there, but Aspire in Portsoy very good. The Brae Steading is well recommended.

Wonderful expansive view of fields and the old stone-built village, spread out to the sea a mile and a half away from the cottage and from the lovely hot tub. Plenty of wildlife to see in the adjacent fields. Beautifully quiet. The village has an excellent bistro open on Fridays and Saturdays. The nearest shop is probably 2 miles.
