The Brae Steading receives glowing praise for its beautiful views, peaceful rural setting, and welcoming hosts. Guests consistently highlight the spotless, well-equipped cottage, the relaxing hot tub, and the thoughtful touches that make it feel like a home from home. The property is dog-friendly and ideally located for exploring nearby beaches and attractions. While a few minor suggestions are made regarding bathroom fittings and internet, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests returning for repeat stays and recommending it to others.
Multiple reviews describe the property as spotless, clean, and tidy, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness. This consistent feedback supports a very high score.
Guests frequently praise the cottage's peaceful rural location, stunning views, and proximity to beaches and local attractions. The only minor note is the need for a car due to its rural setting.
The cottage is repeatedly described as cosy, comfortable, and a home from home. Guests mention restful sleep, spaciousness, and suitability for those with mobility issues, with no significant complaints.
Facilities such as the hot tub, well-equipped kitchen, washing machine, and information packs are highly praised. A couple of minor suggestions (towel rail, internet, smart TV) are noted but do not detract from the overall positive impression.
Guests frequently mention a generous and thoughtful welcome pack or hamper on arrival, as well as attentive and friendly hosts. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

A peaceful, quiet magical place, the village is a warren of narrow streets and beautiful houses still following a medieval plan, and all wrapped around a magnificent centrepiece, Fordyce Castle, simply sitting on a bend in the village street.
The holiday cottage is very spacious, comfortable and warm, and takes advantage of the panoramic views of both sea and countryside, with the arched French doors in the living room leading to a sunny sitting-out area at the front. Set within 1 acre of private grounds with dedicated guest outside area with garden furniture and BBQ available, fenced for dog security.
Fordyce also offers an attractive park opposite the old kirkyard as well as a Victorian garden. The sandy beach at Sandend is a quick drive or a 45-minute walk from the cottage, where you can safely swim and surfers enjoy the waves. Good coastal walks abound through the old fishing villages of Portsoy and Cullen or alternatively travel inland through castle and whisky country.
There are plenty of golf courses in the vicinity, and the variety of bird and wildlife both onshore and off will please the keen nature lover. A charming bistro just a 10-minute walk away in Fordyce serves delicious seasonal evening meals and weekend lunches (seasonal). Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Had a loverly week away at the Brae Steading. We were wanting a week away to relax with no stress or noise. We got all that. No stairs to go up and down all week, apart from four inside the property, was a bonus! one of us is waiting to get a hip replacement and the other a knee replacement so it was bliss! The nearest places were Portsoy which is a 10 minute drive away one direction and in the other direction is Cullen. If you love soup then the famous Cullen Skink soup is for you! There's a cafe on the main road in Cullen, this Cafe has won the best soup competition the last two years, its amazing! If you're wanting peace and quiet with a hot tub to sit in and watch the sunset then the Brae Steading's the place for you.
