Annan 3.5 miles. Superb detached lodge house alongside river in the hamlet of Brydekirk, near Annan, in Scotland's beautiful south west. A stunning house and an ideal base for exploring this lovely part of the country. Superbly furnished and decorated to a high standard, this lovely cottage will accommodate up to six people. Over three floors, the ground floor has a shower room with WC and a superbly equipped kitchen diner overlooking the extensive rear garden. A superb sitting room is up one step from the kitchen with a lovely open fire and a further smaller dining area up another couple of steps, again with superb views across the garden to the river beyond.
The first floor has two bedrooms, a superb quality bathroom and a charming window seat which is a delightful place to relax with a book. The second floor has a spacious double bedroom with a landing that doubles as a children's play area with a safety stairgate, plus each bedroom has a Smart TV in it. The garden at this delightful holiday cottage is impressive with patio areas and seating areas, as well as a large lawn complete with goalposts should you fancy a game of football. Over the wall, the River Annan flows past and there are delightful river walks from your doorstep as well as superb fishing.
Take a trip to the Annandale Distillery and sample the local whisky or challenge yourself on the Devil's Beef Tub corrie, part of the Annandale Way. As well as the beautiful south west of Scotland to explore, the Lake District is within an hour's drive. This is a lovely house with plenty to keep everybody occupied within the surrounding area
The town of Annan, a former harbour, lies on the banks of the River Annan, in East Dumfries and Galloway, and is steeped in history, with the area once the site of Roman camps and the workplace of the writer Thomas Carlyle. Each year, the town celebrates the Riding of the Marches, in honour of the Royal Charter bestowed by King James V, which involves parades, massed pipe bands and competitions.

What words can you use to describe this accommodation that havenât been used in nearly every review before. Wonderful, Superb,Excellent. They have all been used and they all apply. From the moment that you drive down the driveway and see the size of the house, you know you are in for a treat. The garden is fully enclosed by wall and fence. If you have a dog with you, let it out at 9 in the morning and it will explore to its hearts content, coming back at night as if it has been on safari. For the kids, the garden is much bigger than a 5 a side pitch. There are even 2 goals provided so football is a must. Cricket sets, tennis rackets and croquet mallets are also available. For gardeners amongst you there is a planting chart in the conservatory that details which plants are planted where. 6 bird feeders are sited in the bushes outside the conservatory. Blue birds, green ones, yellow and red ones all come to feed. We even saw a woodpecker oh the ground feeding. The inside of the house is very well furnished to a high standard. Lovely heavy curtains are on every window and the leather settees and armchair in the lounge area are extremely comfortable. There is a wealth of tourist information at the property but if you are still looking for something like where to eat or go for the day or dog friendly cafes, donât ask Alexa, ask Carolyn the owner. She has loads of information about the surrounding area and would be delighted to share it with you. Do I have any complaints about North Lodge? Well yes. Just one. A week is far to short but it was all we could get and we booked a full year in advance. My family will definitely be returning. he will appear back at 5 at night as if he has been on safari
