Peacefully located in the Dee Valley, the surroundings are completely rural yet this Visit Scotland graded 1 star cottage is within a ten minute drive of Castle Douglas.The cottage stands in its own grounds surrounded by the owner's woodland. Loch Ken has facilities for coarse fishing. Sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and other land based activities are available at the Galloway Activity Centre plus water ski instruction at Loch Ken Marina. RSPB Ken-Dee Marshes Nature Reserve is close by. The quiet roads are ideal for walking and cycling. The Solway coast with its sandy beaches and rocky coves is within easy access. Castle Douglas, the Food Town and Kirkcudbright, the Artists' Town are both close and provide excellent shopping and other facilities.

Damage Deposit for care of property

All holiday-makers booking a holiday are required to pay either a Refundable Damage Deposit, £150 or as noted in the property listing details, or Damage Deposit waiver of £18, whichever is selected is required to be paid with the balance payment of the holiday. Where selected the Damage Deposit will be held by the property manager to be applied against the reasonable costs of repairs, replacement or additional cleaning of furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glass, bedding and towels damaged or soiled other than by normal wear and tear during the holiday. The Damage Deposit, less any reasonable charges, will be returned within 14 days of the departure date. Where any costs exceed the Damage Deposit the holiday-maker will pay such excess as notified to them by the property manager within 14 days of notification. Where the holiday-maker has agreed to pay the Damage Deposit Waiver the Damage Deposit is not payable. This amount is non-refundable. If the cost of any damage or breakages exceeds the applicable Damage Deposit value for the property, then the holiday-maker will be liable for any additional costs. Any such excess will be notified to them by the property manager and due for payment within 14 days of notification.
