This charming semi-detached cottage is situated in a quiet location with woodland walks being available direct from the door but is also within walking distance to the town of Newton Stewart with shops, cafés and restaurants. The location is very popular with walkers and cyclists with Glentrool, Kirroughtree and the 7Stanes mountain bike trails nearby, as well as a great choice of golf courses.
Situated on the edge of The Galloway Forest and Dark Sky Park, the cottage is ideally placed to explore the beauty of south west Scotland. There is an abundance of fishing, bird watching, beautiful and exotic gardens, many rocky coves, sandy beaches and quaint villages to explore along the Machars Peninsula. The towns of Castle Douglas, Scotland’s food town and Kirkcudbright, the artists town, with shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants are all within easy reach. Beach 8 miles. Pub and restaurant 1 mile.

The owner was very accommodating, we were allowed into the cottage as we arrived early and we didn’t have to vacate at 10am because nobody was booked in for that day. There was a lack of instructions for appliances and rubbish recycling which would have been very helpful and the TV would benefit from an upgrade to a smart TV. Overall we had a relaxing and peaceful stay and would happily recommend it

Accommodation was reasonably equipped and very clean however to have a shower you have to go downstairs.The road to the accommodation was full of potholes and situated behind a delerict hotel and finding it on first arrival was difficult.To access the local amenities you have to use your car.The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of nice clean towels.The TV could do with an upgrade as the channels were very restricted.The owner was very friendly.We had a perfect week of weather which made our stay more enjoyable.

Lovely clean cottage in fantastic location, would absolutely return! As others have mentioned, a welcome pack wouldn't go amiss just with info about how to use the boiler, where bins etc are but we found the owner to be helpful and responsive via WhatsApp when needed! Thanks for a great week.
