Guests consistently highlight the warm hospitality of the owners, the well-equipped kitchen, and the dog-friendly, spacious grounds. The cottage is ideal for those seeking relaxation, nature walks, and a true escape from busy life. While the remote location and local roads can be challenging, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Multiple reviews mention the cottage being clean, cosy, and well-maintained, with particular praise for soft towels and overall tidiness. No negative comments regarding cleanliness were found.

The location is described as peaceful, scenic, and perfect for unwinding, with direct access to walks and nature. Some guests note the remoteness and challenging roads, but these are generally outweighed by the beauty and tranquillity.

Guests frequently mention the cottage as cosy, comfortable, and welcoming, with special appreciation for the beds and relaxing atmosphere. Only minor comments about low ceilings upstairs were noted.

The cottage is praised for being fully equipped, especially the kitchen, and for excellent WiFi. The large, secure garden is a standout feature, particularly for dog owners. Occasional power surges and the need to bring some supplies due to distance from supermarkets are mentioned, but do not detract significantly.

Gàrradh an Fhàsaich is a characterful cottage built in the early 20th century attached to an extensive smallholding. The name Gàrradh an Fhàsaich in Gaelic means Garden of the Desert or Wilderness Garden. This lovely cottage is set in maturing gardens of 8.9 acres that have over a thousand trees and multiple types of shrubbery of different ages all planted by the owner and family. Over 50 species of birds have been sighted from the garden area.
The accommodation has charm. The living room is very inviting with a cosy open fire, or electric heater, and is ideal for relaxing in after a day out exploring. There is a characterful cottage kitchen which has a door out to the garden. The handy porch to the front is perfect for storing muddy boots after an adventurous day out with the family. The property is perfect for couples or small families. Those with dogs will particularly enjoy the cottage, grounds and surrounding location. The wild garden attached to the cottage has been created with natural footpaths for visitors to follow and explore the mainly native plant species.
The cottage is set in Fasach, which is a cluster of houses on the eastern side of Glendale. Set just off the road, but because of its sunken nature and being surrounded by trees, you feel completely isolated when in and around the cottage. Situated on a little plateau, the immediate garden isn’t enclosed, but is very private - the large conservation plot of which it is a part of is bounded by a deer fence. There are mature trees and shrubs around the property, but there is an exceptional view a few yards from the front of the house from a bench down across your very own woodland to the Hamara river in the base of the valley, as well as out to sea. There are various spots where you can sit out and look down over tiny Glendale, the bay of Loch Pooltiel and gaze westwards towards the isles of North Uist and Benbecula of the Outer Hebrides.
Being based at Gàrradh an Fhàsaich is to enjoy a wee slice of heaven. It’s an incredibly tranquil place to spend time and enjoy as a retreat from the fast pace of modern life. It is situated in one of the best settings on Skye, and you’re close to many famous spots. Neist Point Lighthouse is only 10 minutes away and there is a restaurant close by in the village open during the day and a world class smart restaurant 3 miles away. Dunvegan Castle and Coral Beach are a little further away and you can be over at the well-known Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing and the Cuillin Hills in less than 30 minutes. After exploring this island, returning to the sanctuary of Gàrradh an Fhàsaich is a pleasure. It’s a wonderful base for a holiday on Skye. Beach 2 miles. Village shop 1 mile, further shops and restaurants in Dunvegan 7 miles.

A lovely wee stay. Stayed for 3 nights. Kitchen setup was really good, small but very good. Cosied up to the fire on two of the evenings. Engela and Andrew came and asked us if everything was ok, before checking out the next morning. We asked for extra firewood as we were running low and they were so helpful. It’s a lovely wee cosy cottage. Perfect for a wee break on Skye.

Fantastic location for our week away which went in so quickly. Lovely and peaceful and not to far from all the places we wished to visit. Cottage and garden were lovely, not so the midges, but they are to be expected, 😂. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to anyone wanting a wee break a little bit out of the way.

Lovely quuet property, beautiful garden and smashing owners. Property was a little out if the way for us but that was down to our lack of research, and would be ideal for many.
