Grieves Cottage offers a peaceful retreat in a stunning, remote location with breathtaking views of the sea loch and mountains. Guests consistently praise its cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped kitchen, making it ideal for those seeking tranquillity and outdoor adventures. The cottage is especially suited for dog owners and those who appreciate nature, though visitors should be prepared for limited local amenities and lower ceilings upstairs. Friendly locals and thoughtful touches enhance the experience, making it a highly recommended choice for a Highland getaway.
Guests repeatedly highlight the cottage's spotless condition on arrival, describing it as 'super clean' and 'very clean', with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.
The remote, scenic setting with mountain and sea views is a major highlight for guests, who appreciate the tranquillity and proximity to nature. The only minor drawback is the distance to shops and amenities, but this is clearly communicated and seen as part of the cottage's charm.
Reviewers find the cottage comfortable, with special mention of quality beds and living room furniture. The only minor issue noted is the low ceilings upstairs, which taller guests managed without significant discomfort.
The cottage is described as very well equipped, especially the kitchen and utility room, making self-catering easy even in a remote location. A hairdryer and coffee machine were noted as missing by one guest, but otherwise facilities are praised.
There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Grieves Cottage is located just outside a small Highland village called Arnisdale. Locally there is an old-fashioned shop, which stocks nearly everything, there is also a pub/inn at Glenelg 10 miles away. There is a ferry to Skye which runs from Kylerea near Glenelg during the summer months, and there are plenty popular tourist destinations nearby including the spectacular Eilean Donan Castle. There are brilliant coastal and hill walks, with a "Munro" directly behind the village. Hill loch fishing may be available by arrangement with the estate. Wildlife is abundant, with a whole host of birds (golden eagles, gannets, divers and guillemots), animals (red and roe deer) and mammals (dolphins and porpoises, otters and seals) in the area. Guests staying at Greives Cottage will appreciate the warm and welcoming ambience of this holiday house, and its breath-taking location; making it an excellent base for exploring this enchanting part of Scotland.

Grieves Cottage is in a remote location which was perfect for us. The only local amenities are approx 9 miles away and consist of a small shop, pub and community hall. We were warned of lack of amenities on the booking portal. The house and location - best I’ve been to. The weather in that part of Scotland is always very changeable but the utility room in the cottage is large and equipped to dry out clothing, shoes and dogs very quickly. I will rebook Grieves Cottage and have already been recommending it to friends.
