Sheena's But'n'Ben is a well-equipped, comfortable cottage praised for its stunning location and abundant wildlife. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere, particularly the open fire, and the property's cleanliness. The remote setting offers peace and scenic beauty, though the long drive on narrow roads is noted. The local shop provides essentials, and the property's kitchen receives commendations for its comprehensive supplies.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as clean and cosy, indicating high standards of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its stunning scenery and wildlife, though the remote nature and access via a long single track road are noted.
The cottage is generally considered comfortable, with one mention of a bed being too hard, but this seems an isolated view.
Facilities are well-regarded, especially the kitchen equipment, though there are minor comments about lighting and the age of some utensils.
While guests mention little extras and a welcoming atmosphere, there are no specific references to gifts, so it is not possible to score thoughtfulness in this context.
The location at the road end near to the headwater of Loch Hourn is almost other worldly. Right by the sea loch with amazing views, it’s frankly a bit of a paradise.. All on the

Sheena’s But’n’Ben is as far as you can drive up the shore of Loch Hourn, an amazing sea loch that separates the peninsulas of Glenelg and Knoydart. The journey to Sheena’s But’n’Ben is almost as good as being at the cottage. Leaving the main road at Shiel Bridge after passing through atmospheric Glen Shiel, you take an old military road to Glenelg, which has a fabulous inn on the water, and the old turntable ferry across the narrows to Skye. The road continues, and dramatically rolls along the coast before turning west to follow the shoreline of Loch Hourn. You pass the Sandaig Islands where Gavin Maxwell and his otters lived, and your view changes from the Sound of Sleat and the Cuillin of Skye to the vast wilderness of Knoydart with its four Munros. Charming Arnisdale is reached, and a little further on picturesque Corran and right at the end of the road you’ll find Sheena’s But’n’Ben next to local favourite Sheena’s Tea Hut! It’s a magical spot and one you’ll fall for. So many have done so before you. But’n’Ben for those that don’t know is a Scots term for a two-roomed cottage, which this property would’ve been originally. Thankfully it has a few more rooms today, and Sheena’s Butn’Ben offers a great level of accommodation for six people.
There are three bedrooms: a double, twin and bunk room. The living room is spacious and has an open fire. The kitchen/dining room is a good space for everyone to convene for hearty meals after long days out exploring the area. There’s so much exploring to do in this part of the world. You could leave the car outside the cottage all week and go on a different walk every day of your holiday. There are countless options for hillwalking - it’s a hikers dream destination!
A favourite local walk goes straight from Sheena’s But’n’Ben, and Walk Highlands describe it as going through some of Scotland’s finest scenery. It follows the Old Coast Path which was built and used back in the 18th and 19th centuries for the Highlands herring industry. Further afield, Glenelg, Skye, Eilean Donan Castle, Lochcarron and further on along the NC500 are all worth exploring. But to return to Corran, and be surrounded by such awe-inspiring landscapes will most likely keep you from straying too far. It’s a magical spot.

A stunning accommodation in one stunning place! Surrounded by mountains it led to some beautiful wildlife moments including the harbour porpoises and a golden eagle soaring in the mountains. Inside really was the best equipped place we’ve ever stayed in, everything you needed to cook for a week was there, the standard of the knives, pans and all the kitchen stuff was very good indeed! The rooms were all very comfortable and it was great to have and use the open fire. We really can’t fault the place and the setting it is in.Low score for amenities mainly cause the nearest pub was shut and there was a local shop and that was it for 1hrs drive in any direction. walks were a plenty from the place though! We will add it is a very long drive down narrow single track road (18mile, 40minutes) the views are stunning though. However it might be worth having snow chains for the winter and we did manage to get stuck in the snow up one large hill! Overall we would recommend it wholeheartedly

The cottage and location far exceeded our expectations! This was our favorite lodging during our entire trip to Scotland. The larger bed was way too hard, so my husband and I slept in the room with the two small beds. They were very comfortable and we rested well. We cooked all of our meals during the two days we were there. The shop in Glenelg had everything we needed. The fireplace made evenings very cozy. We hope to return someday and bring our teenage sons. Forever memories made!
