Guests say

Taigh Violet Rose is a well-loved, cosy cottage praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location for exploring the Outer Hebrides. Guests appreciate the warm welcome and helpful tips from the host, Danny, and the property's proximity to amenities and stunning local scenery. The cottage's traditional charm and modern facilities make it a highly recommended stay for both relaxation and adventure.

Guests consistently mention the cottage's excellent cleanliness, describing it as very clean and well-presented, which indicates a high standard of hygiene and care.

The location is highly praised for being a great base to explore Benbecula, North and South Uist, and beyond. Its proximity to local amenities and scenic beaches adds to its appeal.

Reviewers find the cottage warm, cosy, and comfortable, with a well-appointed living space and a nicely decorated bedroom, suggesting a very comfortable stay.

The cottage is commended for its well-equipped kitchen, good Wi-Fi, and overall well-maintained facilities. However, without specific details on maintenance, the score reflects a slight uncertainty.

The host's thoughtfulness is evident through the mention of welcome treats for guests' pets. While this is a kind gesture, it is noted that such personal touches, though delightful, may not be guaranteed for every stay.

Taigh Violet Rose is a fantastic, historic former blackhouse that the current owner has renovated brilliantly. It’s now a lovely holiday home with all home comforts. Located on the Isle of Benbecula, which is between North and South Uist in the Outer Hebrides.

The cottage itself has been fully renovated, even including a new thatch to ensure the authentic Blackhouse appearance. Open plan living is the set-up at one end of the cottage, and there is a double bedroom and bathroom at the other end. There is a garden that wraps around the property. Taigh Violet Rose is an excellent, historic property set in a truly outstanding destination.

The island is accessible by ferry from mainland Scotland to either North or South Uist and then a causeway joins the islands. Alternatively, you can fly to tiny Benbecula Airport from Glasgow which is only a couple of miles from Taigh Violet Rose.

Benbecula has many white sand beaches along its west, Atlantic coast. It’s an unbelievable place to go for a wander at any time of the year. In the summer the land and seascape colours will trick you to believe you’re in the Caribbean (the temperature will reassure you of your northerly location!), then in the winter, if you’re lucky on a clear night you may even be treated to a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

Further afield it’s easy to visit Harris & Lewis by hopping on a ferry across the Sound of Harris from Berneray (another island linked to North Uist by causeway), and if you wanted to explore further to the south, a wee ferry links Eriskay (again another causeway linked island to South Uist) with Barra. It is advisable to book your ferry at the time of booking, as they can become fully booked.

Staying at Taigh Violet Rose means you’re very central in the Outer Hebrides archipelago. You can explore a lot from this amazing location.

The cottage is just fabulous and very well presented - warm and cosy too ! We just said 'WOW' when we arrived. It's in a great location to visit all the islands and close to amenities ie supermarkets. We have just returned from two weeks and loved every minute even when getting blasted by the wind! We were lucky enough to have some sunny days which enabled us to see the beauty of the white sandy beaches and blue sea.We have stayed in a number of holiday cottages across the UK and this cottage is the best yet!! Our thanks to Danny who was a great host and very helpful with tips of where to visit .... even left welcome treats for our two labradors 😊
