Swallow Cottage is praised for its peaceful rural setting, comfortable and well-equipped interiors, and friendly, responsive hosts. Guests appreciate the cleanliness, quality bedding, and thoughtful touches, making it an ideal base for exploring the Gower and surrounding beaches. While most reviews are highly positive, some mention issues with the access track, occasional maintenance concerns, and rare boiler odours. Overall, the cottage offers a cosy and relaxing retreat, with many guests keen to return.
Most guests found the cottage spotless, clean, and well-presented, with high-quality linen and towels. A few reviews noted minor issues such as damp, a blocked bath, or unclean floors, but these were exceptions rather than the norm.
The rural location is widely appreciated for its tranquillity and proximity to beaches and walks. However, several guests mention the rough, potholed access track as a drawback, though this is outside the owners' control.
Guests frequently describe the cottage as cosy, comfortable, and warm, with comfy beds and a relaxing conservatory. Occasional discomfort was reported due to boiler smells or damp, but these were addressed by the owners when possible.
The cottage is well-equipped with modern kitchen facilities, good WiFi, and responsive maintenance (e.g., quick replacement of appliances). Some maintenance issues (boiler, blocked bath, broken blind) were noted but generally resolved promptly.
Guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome Welsh cakes and milk, as well as Christmas decorations and helpful local information from the hosts. Please note that such gifts or extras are not guaranteed for every stay.

Just a short walk away you’ll find yourself in the local village of Gowerton, here you’ll find everything you need including shops, post-office, local pubs and restaurants, cafés, butchers, and a bakery. If you plan to stay local, you can explore the countryside from the doorstep - take a walk in the forest, cycle the countryside, or trot along the bridleway or even play a round of golf at Gower Golf Club, less than 5 minutes away. Swallow Cottage is also pet-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friend along!
This area is the gateway to the Gower; once you’ve settled in, it is recommended you head to the Gower to take in some of Wales’ most beautiful coastline. Gower is home to over thirty beaches and coves, many are dog-friendly, and most are just a 20-minute drive. Five minutes from your doorstep there are cycle paths (car free, mostly flat and family friendly) that can take you to Mumbles or, if you are feeling energetic, Pembrey Country Park with its 8-mile-long sandy beach and plenty of activities for kids. There are around 27 miles of cycle paths to explore in Gower and many more footpaths. With great access to the M4 from the cottage you could even venture further. Head west for more stunning coastline and scenery, or east if you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a city (Swansea, Cardiff, and Bristol). If you plan on ditching the car for the day, you can hop on the train from the station in the village, a direct train to Cardiff is a little over an hour away.
