Ashover Lodge offers a cosy and well-heated retreat, appreciated for its quiet setting and proximity to local attractions, bars, and entertainment. Guests highlight the secure garden, making it ideal for dog owners, and private parking is a plus. While many found the lodge comfortable and well-equipped for a relaxing stay, some noted that the property and furnishings are showing signs of age and could benefit from refurbishment. The approach road is challenging due to potholes and mud, and cleanliness standards varied between visits. Overall, it provides a convenient base for exploring the area, especially for pet owners.
Reviews are mixed, with some guests finding the lodge clean and comfortable, while others reported issues such as dirty bedding, unwashed kitchenware, and a generally unkempt bathroom. Cleanliness appears to be inconsistent between stays.
The location is praised for being close to attractions, shops, and entertainment, yet quiet and safe at night. However, the access road is difficult, with large potholes and mud, and the property can be hard to find, especially at night or on foot.
Guests generally found the lodge warm and comfortable, with some highlighting good sleep quality and a cosy atmosphere. However, there are mentions of old, lumpy mattresses and tired furniture, indicating room for improvement.
The lodge is well-equipped for two people, with efficient heating, private parking, and an enclosed garden for dogs. Some appliances and furniture are dated and in need of replacement, and maintenance issues such as a faulty gate latch were noted.
There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

We had an excellent time, and will definitely return in the future. Great for the dog with front yard for him to play and chill out safely

Accomodation was very difficult to find and up what could only be described as a dirt track full of massive potholes. It was behind a house and appeared to be a converted garage. The property was very dirty on arrival. The bathroom was manky. There were hairs on the very old lumpy mattress which was dirty along with the old dirty flat pillows. We arrived after a long journey feeling tired and before being able to relax we had to clean the accomodation as best as we could. Furniture is in dire need of replacing in the bedroom and some in the living area. Kitchen appliances were very old and the kitchen equipment all needed washing up before use. The only upside staying here was the heating worked efficiently but the boiler was very loud.
