About this property

Pen Glorian is a distinguished converted barn with origins reaching back to around 1750, once serving as the estate grain store where harvests were carefully weighed and recorded, its name, translating to “the place where the grain was weighed”, offers a graceful nod to this timeless agricultural past, today, the building has been thoughtfully restored, blending its historic charm with refined modern comforts to create an elegant and restful retreat. Tucked within a quiet mews‑style courtyard — a beautifully converted former farm courtyard with a small collection of neighbouring properties — Pen Glorian enjoys a wonderfully peaceful setting on the edge of the historic town of Conwy. The property is perfectly placed for those wishing to experience the town’s celebrated heritage, including the iconic suspension bridge designed by Thomas Telford, Conwy continues to honour the enduring legacy of Telford’s engineering, with cultural events taking place locally. Pen Glorian sits approximately four miles from the majestic Conwy Castle, offering guests the choice of a beautiful walk into town or a short, effortless drive, depending on ability and preference, the journey can be a scenic stroll through this historic landscape or a quick hop by car to the heart of Conwy’s medieval charm. Inside, the property offers a calm, refined atmosphere, the fully equipped kitchen provides all essentials for effortless self‑catering, while the inviting living and dining room offers a comfortable space to unwind. A first‑floor mezzanine lounge, with its soft lighting and electric fire, creates an intimate hideaway for quieter evenings. The charming sunroom provides an additional spot to relax with views across the courtyard and surrounding grounds.

The ground‑floor double bedroom enhances the property’s practicality, with the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom all set on the same level for ease and convenience. The shower room features a walk‑in shower, heated towel rail, basin and WC. Oil central heating, WiFi, bed linen, towels, fuel and power are all included to ensure a seamless and comfortable stay. Outside, the balcony and enclosed rear patio offer lovely places to take in the fresh Welsh air, furnished for peaceful outdoor dining or morning coffee, the garden is enclosed and the property is welcoming to dogs; however, guests should note that sheep occasionally graze in the field beyond the boundary.

Conwy itself is renowned for its medieval castle and UNESCO‑listed town walls, while its charming streets are filled with independent shops, cafés and traditional inns. Nearby Llandudno offers a classic Victorian promenade and spectacular coastal scenery along the Great Orme, while Betws‑y‑Coed opens the gateway to the forests, rivers and mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

With its rich sense of history, elegant interior and superb location, Pen Glorian provides a distinguished base for guests seeking a refined and memorable stay on the North Wales coast.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns to enjoy
