Guests say

Crogen Gatehouse Lodge is a well-received holiday rental, praised for its comfortable furnishings, stunning views, and peaceful location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped cottage, the welcoming host Sarah, and the thoughtful welcome basket. While some mention minor issues with cobwebs and road noise, the overall sentiment is one of relaxation and enjoyment in a beautiful Welsh countryside setting.

The lodge is generally considered clean and well-presented, though a few guests mentioned cobwebs and staining on furniture. The positive remarks about the state of the lodge suggest a high level of cleanliness overall.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquility, with easy access to trails and the River Dee. Some guests noted road noise, but many found it insignificant. The proximity to Bala and other attractions adds to its appeal.

Guests find the lodge comfortable, with a large bed and cosy log burner frequently mentioned. The peaceful setting contributes to the comfort, despite isolated comments about road proximity and traffic noise.

The lodge is well-equipped for a relaxing stay, with good WiFi and a smart TV. However, some guests raised concerns about hot water temperature, fridge size, and oven placement. Maintenance issues like these slightly detract from the overall high standard.

The host's thoughtfulness is evident from the warm welcomes and the provision of a welcome basket, which guests found delightful. While such gestures are highly appreciated, it's worth noting that they may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

Lovely, relaxing stay away far from the madding crowd. Cottage is comfortable and well equipped. Some reviews complain of cobwebs…..it’s an old cottage and October, it’s spider season.

Comfortable and well-appointed one-bedroom gatehouse situated in the grounds of Crogen Hall Estate on the banks of the River Dee. Perfect location to ‘unplug’, with very little in the way of urban civilisation to distract. Plenty of forest trails for mountain biking, trail running and dog walking, as well as the ability to roam the fields banking the River Dee as guests of the estate. The pastoral view from the cottage is lovely. Bala is the nearest large (ish) town, that has more amenities and shops; whilst it’s a mecca for water sports, it lacks the finesse and charm of similar towns in Snowdonia such as Betws. Coastal areas such as Harlech, Porthmadog or Dolgellau are roughly an hour away, as is Chester. Betws and central Snowdonia is around 45 mins.
