This restful retreat is located close to Lixwm, a traditional village with stunning views of the nearby Cwlydian Hills. A private driveway leads to your front door – leave outdoor gear in the entrance hall then step into a striking open-plan living space that’s full of natural light. At one end, the kitchen area has all the essentials for effortless self-catering, plus a breakfast bar with feature lighting for informal mealtimes. Stretch out on comfortable sofas to watch your TV favourites as the dog snoozes at your feet; there’s an electric fire to keep everyone extra-cosy on cooler nights. When bedtime nears, choose from two fabulous rooms – a king-size with a free-standing bath and separate shower in its en-suite bathroom, or a stunning twin with en-suite shower room. A gorgeous enclosed garden extends your living space and has all the attention to detail of indoors. Relax in the luxury hot tub – robes and hot tub towels are provided – enjoy a BBQ on the patio, chill on the sun terrace or have some family-style fun in the covered ’Boar Cave’ which comes complete with games, seating and a table. When you’re ready to meet the locals, the local pub is less than a mile away; alternatively make friends with the two donkeys that live on the owner’s working farm – they love a carrot or apple in the morning!
Amble into Lixwm and across the surrounding countryside or visit Mold (7 miles), a thriving market town with many fine buildings. Three miles outside the town, Loggerheads Country Park is an ideal gateway for adventures in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB. Just across the border, Chester (19 miles) has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000-year-old cathedral and the Rows – seven centuries-old two-tiered covered galleries that house a range of shops, bars and restaurants. For a change of scene, head 14 miles to Prestatyn, where the beach marks the beginning of the Offa’s Dyke National Trail that marks the boundary between Wales and England.
