Padarn Lodge is so close to being excellent but just falls short of the mark. The location is excellent - it’s a 15 minute drive to Llanberis and an easy 10 minute walk into Caernarfon which is absolutely beautiful. Cwm Cadnant itself is quiet, private and peaceful. Nice touches in the lodge included a bottle of prosecco, cafetière and wood for the woodburner. However - half of the pans are not compatible with the induction hob so cooking was difficult. Access to the hot tub is across a slate chipping path which was uncomfortable to say the least - flip flops or even some paving slabs would solve this. The woodburner leaks in the rain so all of the wood got wet. One tiny towel each feels stingey - a second towel and a bathrobe would go a long way to making this a luxury experience. Two dishwasher tablets for a week was to be expected, but again, I can’t help feeling ripped off. Not a single bin bag provided seems especially cheap; and no washing up cloths either. I know this is pretty normal with self catering in the UK but constantly having to go to the supermarket because there’s another thing the accommodation doesn’t have gets tiring quickly.
