Llys Cyngar is a fabulous holiday home for all the family! With a front garden of over an acre in size, there really is plenty of room for all. You can find a shady spot for some rest and relaxation, laze in the hot tub, or on a rainy day you can curl up in front of the open fire in the spacious living room with a good book. It’s in a peaceful spot too, next to the golf course and only a few minutes’ walk to the endless sandy beach of Black Rock Sands. Unusually, you can drive your car right onto the beach (there’s a charge in the summer months) so it’s a really accessible beach for all ages.
The coastal village of Morfa Bychan is on the doorstep, whilst the bustling town of Porthmadog is just 2 miles away. You can walk there along the coastal path, indeed it’s an excellent place to start a walk from. You’ll find a wide selection of supermarkets and individual shops ranging from craft shops and bookshops to cafés and restaurants.
Porthmadog is home to the famous Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways from whose station the little narrow gauge steam engines start their journeys either to Blaenau Ffestiniog on the Ffestiniog Railway or Beddgelert and Caernarfon on the Welsh Highland Railway. A nostalgic trip on one of the great little trains of Wales is a must to see the ever changing vistas from the carriage windows. At Blaenau Ffestiniog you’ll find the exciting Zip World, with the UK’s largest zip wire zone where you can zoom over an old slate quarry, and Bounce Below where you can bounce on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern. A few miles away is the quirky Italianate village of Portmeirion. Designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, it was used as the film set for ‘The Prisoner’ and is well worth a visit. The mighty Edward I castle at Harlech (a unesco World Heritage Site) is just a few miles away, whilst the sleepy Llyn Peninsula has tiny villages and rocky coves to explore. Beach 500 yards. Shop 600 yards, pub ¼ mile and restaurant ½ mile.

We walk past cyngar every weekend on the way down to the beach and we’ve always wanted to have the property for family . So when the dates for my 40th were available we booked it straight away . It’s such a great location with the land for dogs to be free the beach on the doorstep and the privacy . We even had a tipee company set up in the grounds which was a great addition . The interior is very old but makes life very practical with dogs and bad weather . However we had the perfect September sunshine we were so lucky . The hot tub and seating area out the back was also a great place to chill out and unwind . We did have to being our own gas bottle though for the table fire pit . The heating is very warm infact we turned it right down as it was too warm . But in the winter months you would be more than cozy I imagine . The welcome hamper was a nice treat on arrival also . If I had any negative comments it would be for such a large property a bigger oven would help and a lot of the electricals could do with updating I.e the tv and dvd player etc it’s all very jumbled up cable wise and we had no tv signal all week which was fine as we were out and had a projector in out tipee to watch films .

Second visit and it won’t be our last. A lovely homely feel. Excellent accommodation in a great position. Short walk to the beach and also to the 1st tee of a challenging golf course. Couldn’t fault the place.
