Beacon Cottage receives high praise for its peaceful rural setting, stunning sea views, and spacious conservatory, making it ideal for relaxation and exploring Pembrokeshire. Guests appreciate the well-equipped, clean, and comfortable accommodation, with easy access for those with mobility needs. While some mention minor issues such as unclear directions, lack of basic cooking supplies, and heating challenges in poor weather, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests keen to return.
Multiple guests comment on the cottage being very clean and well kept, with only one mention of difficulty keeping it clean due to muddy weather, which was not attributed to the property itself.
The location is widely praised for its tranquillity, beautiful views, and proximity to coastal walks and local attractions. The rural setting is appreciated, though guests note the absence of nearby shops, which was clearly communicated in advance.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable, warm, and cosy, with special mention of the beds and conservatory. A few guests experienced issues with heating and hot water during poor weather, but these were exceptions.
The cottage is described as well equipped, especially for families and those with mobility needs. Suggestions for improvement include adding a handrail in the shower, clearer instructions for outside lights, and more basic cooking supplies. Some maintenance issues, such as a warped shed door, were noted.
There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Beacon Cottage lies on a quiet country lane above the tiny hamlet of Llanrhian. The sunny conservatory offers panoramic views across fields and out to sea above the nearby village of Porthgain. In summer watch the sun set over the Abereiddi valley or stroll down for supper to the Shed Bistro or the Sloop Inn in Porthgain. With water heating assisted by solar panels, Beacon Cottage is warm and comfortable and a lovely destination for a holiday at all times of year.
It is a pleasant walk or a short drive to Porthgain from which the Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs both east and west. The dramatic coastal scenery, flower and wildlife are what make Pembrokeshire one of the world’s best holiday destinations (National Geographic voted Pembrokeshire the 2nd best coastal destination in the world). Splendid at all times of year, the explosion of colour with the spring flowers is something to behold!
Neighbouring Abereiddi, has pretty colour-washed former miners’ cottages, black sandy beach (where dogs are welcome all year round) and the remarkable Blue Lagoon. Popular with families, the sand, which is visible at low tide, also contains a high concentration of fossils and is a draw for fossil hunters. Beach 2¾ miles. Pub and restaurant 1¾ miles.

A very comfortable cottage within a quiet location with lovely views. We found it had everything we needed. As older visitors the only suggestion we would make is that a hand rail in the lovely shower cubicle would be useful. Definitely a cottage we would like to return to.

We left a day early as we were so cold in the cottage and ran out of hot water. The immersion heater took so long to act as a backup that we were unable to wait for our showers before going out. As a summer venue it would be wonderful.
