Guests say

Yr Hen Gof is a spacious and characterful cottage in the picturesque village of Mathry, ideally placed for exploring Pembrokeshire and close to local attractions and a popular village pub. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy atmosphere, and pleasant garden. The hosts are welcoming and sometimes provide thoughtful touches on arrival. While some furnishings and bedding could benefit from updating, and a few maintenance issues have been noted, the cottage remains a comfortable and relaxing base for a Welsh getaway.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, though a few mentioned issues such as stained bedding and a shower mat with mould. Overall, cleanliness is generally good but could be improved with more attention to detail.

The location is highly praised, with easy access to local attractions, beaches, and walks. The proximity to the Farmers Arms pub is a particular highlight for many guests.

Guests enjoyed the cosy atmosphere and comfortable beds, but several reviews mention uncomfortable lounge furniture and flat pillows, suggesting some areas could be updated for improved comfort.

The cottage is well equipped, especially the kitchen, and features a pleasant sun room and garden. However, some maintenance issues such as tired furniture, a temperamental shower, and lack of information materials were noted.

Several guests appreciated the warm welcome and local produce provided on arrival, though these thoughtful touches are not guaranteed for every stay.

A lovely cottage in the village of Mathry, which is a credit to it's owners, and it is ideally located between Fishguard and St. David's. The owners greeted us on arrival and a welcome pack of local produce was found on the kitchen table.Plenty of space inside and out, and the thick stone walls were a blessing in the late May heatwave that we experienced, as the cottage was nice and cool in comparison. The sun room (main entrance) was boiling hot as it is South facing, but this did mean that any washing dried really quickly. The kitchen is well equipped, with plenty of pots and pans, a dish washer, toaster and a really good oven. There are not any shops in the village, but there are several in the local villages which are a short drive away. There are plenty of supermarkets in Fishguard and Haverfordwest, which are not too far away. The Farmers Arms, which is only a couple of minutes walk away from the cottage, serves really good food, plus excellent local ales and ciders. They are able to cater for food allergies and intolerances, which was a bonus for my family. We had a lovely Sunday lunch, then a proper fish 'n' chips meal on our last night. If you time it right, The Farmers Arms also put on live bands!A highly recommended cottage!

Lovely cottage in an area close to most attractions, beaches and walks.Has all the kitchen utensils, pots, pans ect required. Large conservatory attached, nice to sit in when sun abd read. Just a few things to point out in this cottageGarden not completely safe for small dogs, back fence and gate has gaps under them which our dog escaped under, onto main lane. Suitable for larger dogs. Not suitable for toddlers, lots of ornaments at low level, stairs open plan and bedroom unsuitable for children under eight.Furniture in main lounge seen better days, ripped and dirty not comfortable to sit on.Basic channels on T. V, only two old games supplied in cottage so bring your own.No pillow protectors, quilts and pillows need changing or washing as stained.
