About this property

Brecon 3.7 miles. Oak Lodge is a delightful lodge resting near Brecon in Powys. Enjoying spectacular mountain and countryside views within the breath-taking Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, ideally suited to a couple, this pet-friendly retreat places guests at the foot of Pen y Fan, one of Wales' most iconic peaks, making it an excellent base for outdoor adventures and memorable days exploring the surrounding landscape. Arrive and make use of the off-road parking before taking in the sweeping views across open fields towards the mountains beyond. A covered veranda with outdoor furniture provides a wonderful first impression, inviting you to sit with a morning coffee or evening drink while appreciating the scenery that surrounds the lodge.

Step through the French doors into the studio-style living space, where the open layout creates an inviting place to unwind. Sink into the sofa after a day spent walking the hills and settle in for a quiet evening with your favourite programme on the Smart TV. Nearby, a dining table for two offers a pleasant spot to enjoy breakfast before heading out to explore or to share a simple evening meal together. The kitchenette has everything needed for a self-catered stay. Prepare light lunches and hearty post-walk suppers using the hob and microwave, keep drinks chilled in the fridge with ice box, and start each morning with a fresh cup of tea while planning the day's route through the national park.

When it's time to rest, the double sleeping area provides a welcoming space to recharge before another day of adventure. Begin the morning with a refreshing rinse in the en-suite shower room, complete with walk-in shower, basin and WC, before setting off to discover the surrounding countryside. Outside, the standout feature awaits. As evening settles over the mountains, sink into the covered outdoor bath and relax beneath the clear roof. Soft lighting beneath the bath creates a wonderful atmosphere while you soak, taking in views of the surrounding peaks by day and a sky full of stars after dark. For everyday essentials, a shop can be reached with a short drive, while a nearby pub offers the opportunity to enjoy a meal out after a day of exploring.

Whether you're tackling the slopes of Pen y Fan, seeking out hidden waterfalls or unwinding beneath the stars in the outdoor bath, Oak Lodge is a wonderful base for discovering the beauty of Powys. Note: This property can be booked with ref. 1208430, together sleeping 4 guests.

On the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park lies the historic cathedral town of Brecon, boasting beautiful Georgian and Jacobean architecture, many museums, a theatre and cinema, individual shops, restaurants and inns serving real ales and local food. The Brecon Beacons National Park offers the avid walker and keen cyclist spectacular scenery at any time of the year, with rolling countryside and valleys and the wild beauty of waterfalls and caves. The park is home to traditional market towns, castles, ancient monuments and miles of canal where many pretty walks can be enjoyed. For the less energetic, pony trekking, canal cruising or the local Brecon Steam Railway are a must. Travel a little further to Hay-on-Wye with its numerous book shops, visit the craft and collectors’ fairs and the four day Royal Welsh Agricultural Show at Builth Wells, or explore the delightful medieval town of Abergavenny. A perfect base for an all-year-round family holiday.
