Pen Y Maes is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its cleanliness, peaceful location, and comfort. Guests enjoyed the spaciousness, the secure garden for dogs, and the large hot tub. The property's proximity to a welcoming local pub and scenic walks added to the positive experience. The thoughtful touches by the hosts, such as flowers and cake on arrival, were appreciated, although such gifts are not guaranteed.
Reviewers consistently mention the property being 'spotlessly clean' and 'immaculately clean', indicating a very high standard of cleanliness that contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.
The location is frequently described as peaceful, with beautiful surroundings and convenient access to local attractions and walks. The nearby pub is a plus, although the lack of nearby shops is noted.
Guests found the property very comfortable, mentioning 'comfortable beds', a 'lovely bungalow', and a 'home from home' feel. The spaciousness and quiet environment contributed to the comfort level.
Facilities like the hot tub are highly praised, though there are minor comments about garden maintenance and the size of the en suite shower. The hot tub maintenance and the secure garden for pets are well-regarded.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the welcome touches such as flowers and cake. However, it is important to note that these gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay.
A stunning 1980's style red brick bungalow, tucked away down a little lane in the hamlet village of Aberedw in Builth Wells. Everything about this fantastic property portrays style and modern elegance; there are three beautifully capacious bedrooms all with superb countryside views, a home ideally suited to families or friends. A rural setting surrounded by the property gardens, fully enclosed so it is suitable for children and pets with views overlooking glorious open fields and access onto a footpath over the old castle hill. The cottage has an open-plan kitchen and dining area with a beautiful dining table and stunning views out through the French doors into the garden. You also have the added utility room, with fridge/freezer and washing machine so you have an advantage of extra space in the kitchen area. The sitting room features a lovely wood burner, so if you're feeling chilly during the winter season, turn up the heat and get cosy on the deluxe leather sofas. You will be overwhelmed by the panoramic, picturesque views from the garden which features a barbecue and exceptionally large hot tub, so why not take a nice hot soak after a long day of country hiking before your evening meal, should you choose to dine indoors or out, you have the option. In Builth Wells, just a 10-minute drive away is the RWAS showground, home of the Royal Welsh Show, hosting other big public events all-year-round. The highlights are the Spring Festival held in May for smallholding, gardening and sustainable living enthusiasts and the Winter Fair, held in December which features livestock displays and a huge Christmas market. Hay-on-Wye is a 20 minute drive in the opposite direction which features historic sites, mountainous walks and many shops to visit. Pen Y Maes is of superb quality and professional finish throughout with lovely modern fixtures, an ideal holiday location, sitting just below the ruins of historical Aberedw Castle.
