Visit the cathedral town of Brecon, famed for its Georgian architecture, castle and waterside walks and explore the trails around Llangorse Lake (11 miles) on foot or by bike – located between the Central Beacons and the Black Mountains, it’s the largest natural lake in Wales and a centre for water sports and fishing. Venture a little further to discover more about the region’s heritage at the National Show Caves Centre (19 miles), Big Pit National Coal Museum or Blaenavon Iron Works (both 25 miles).
