Rhayader 4.5 miles. A delightful detached cottage set in open countryside with mountain views from all aspects, in a rural location 4.5 miles from Rhayader. Created from two separate properties, this picturesque Rhayader cottage stands alone at the end of a single farm track in the most peaceful location. Full of character, this pretty Rhayader cottage retains many original features including open beams, flagged floors, wooden floorboards throughout the first floor and wonderful open fireplaces. The lovely large kitchen table with settle seating is perfect for family meals, followed by relaxation in the superb sitting room or the very large games room, specifically adapted from an old barn with vaulted beamed ceiling, a cosy woodburner, comfy seats, a TV and DVD, a pool table, table football and table tennis.
Enjoy alfresco dining in the pretty cottage garden, which has an area large enough to enjoy a friendly game of football, or explore the local countryside with walks from the doorstep. You may well see Red Kites overhead, along with all the other birdlife around the cottage, but do visit the Red Kite feeding station in nearby Rhayader for an experience never to be forgotten. The Elan Valley lakes and the many shows and exhibitions at the Royal Welsh Showground offer varied days out for all the family. A terrific, welcoming Rhayader cottage for all ages.
Rhayader is a small Welsh town with a selection of tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and shops, with the added bonus of a leisure centre and regular livestock marts. The annual Royal Welsh Show is just one of the attractions in nearby Builth Wells, where a great variety of exhibitions and sales are held all year round. The beautiful Elan Valley offers a wonderful variety of walks and cycle trails, as well as a visitor centre with café and children's play area.

It was like a home from home, the house was full of everything that was needed to make our stay easier, and the games room was the perfect added extra. All of us enjoyed many rounds of darts, pool and table tennis. There is a lovely walk that starts at the house and you can then choose the path you want to take when at Nantglas church. The path we chose wasn't signposted very well (like many in Wales), but luckily I have a child that has superb navigation skills and it was the perfect walk for our first day. We also couldn't recommend the Elan Valley walks enough. If you choose to walk to the Garreg Ddu dam, grab a hot chocolate and a bowl of chips at Ty Penbont - you won't be disappointed. We had a lovely lunch at The Old Swan Tearooms in Rhayader, and brought home one of their Bara Brith loaves. The Lamb and Flag also does a lovely meal. No matter where you go there is always a friendly face. Thank you Julie and family for letting us stay in your beautiful house and for the fruit cake and milk on arrival. We hope to be back soon!

The setting is beautiful, the property was spotlessly clean, and everything was finished to a really high standard. Games room was epic! The hosts were excellentâfriendly, kind, and very responsive to any questions we had, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The only small downside was the 9:30am check-out time, which felt a little early and made the last morning feel a bit rushed. A slightly later check-out would have made the stay absolutely perfect. Overall, we had a wonderful break and wouldnât hesitate to return. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Well equipped kitchen with everything you need. The views are spectacular - day and the night sky. We were very lucky with the weather but this break was everything we needed. The games room is perfect for the kids and having all the surrounding area to explore was fab! I am sooo glad I found this place.
