Meifod itself offers a friendly, small-village atmosphere with a local pub and shop within walking distance, and is surrounded by wooded hills, riverbanks, and farmland, making it a haven for walkers and nature lovers.
Just a short drive away, Welshpool (6 miles) offers a great mix of shops, pubs, and restaurants, alongside attractions such as the charming Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway and the grand Powis Castle and Gardens, known for its impressive terraces and world-class formal gardens. Montgomery and Llanfyllin, two other historic market towns, are also close by and well worth a visit for their character, independent shops, and cafés.
For lovers of the outdoors, the Shropshire Hills and Snowdonia National Park are both within reach for hiking, cycling, or simply taking in the incredible scenery. The Mid Wales coast is also just over an hour’s drive (42 miles), with sandy beaches, seaside villages, and harbour towns to discover at your own pace. Lake Vyrnwy, where birdwatchers will also be very much in their element thanks to the rspb reserve and wide variety of native species. We visited on 13/07/26 for a week and absolutely loved every moment. The setting is perfect, waking up every morning to the view of the hills with the sheep, it was very tranquil. We needed a relaxing escape and that’s exactly what we got. Such a lovely family running the farm and we had lambs in front of the lodge to watch. You can walk around the small lake or walk offsite. We loved the fresh lodge and the way it had been decorated, my partner was very impressed with the full size fridge/freezer. It had everything we needed and really comfortable beds and bedding.. we visited the local pub and got talking to locals that were very accommodating. Would highly recommend

We stayed at Lakeside for 4 nights at the beginning of the summer holidays. 2 adults, a 15 year old and our pet dog. It was just what we needed. We wanted a tranquil break away from the hustle and bustle of work, school and everyday life. The lodge did not disappoint. The cleanliness was impeccable and it had all the equipment needed to make the stay comfortable and cosy. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked a variety of meals with no hassle. The fridge and freezer had plenty of room. The welcome pack of cookies, waffles, crisps and milk were a nice touch. The booklet on the dining table with all information about the area and sightseeing/trips etc was very useful. Our plan was to chill out mainly so this place was perfect. Extremely quiet and peaceful setting. A picturesque 10 min walk down the lane and you were in Meifod village which had a little shop and a pub. If you want more shops etc then just a 15/20 minute drive to Welshpool which had pubs to eat in, supermarkets and a little town with quaint little shops. We did not see any litter around as we walked with our dog, even in the town it was spotlessly clean. The lodge itself had plenty of room, the bathroom and kitchen were very modern and spacious. The lounge area and bedroom were extremely cosy and each had a balcony that over looked rolling hills and fields filled with sheep who were very lovely neighbours for the stay! Our dog loved being able to roam freely around the lodge and balconies without worries of him escaping. The hot tub was a great way to relax and take in the breath taking views on our doorstep. The living area had a smart TV which we could sign into our own accounts of Netflix etc. The WiFi was also amazing and consistent. This helped immensely with our 15 year old!! We explored the nearby forests, river and fields which made wonderful dog walks. The owner, who met us on arrival, was a very pleasant, friendly and helpful gentleman who we enjoyed chatting to. We liked watching him and his dog herd the sheep some days - it was very entertaining and mesmerising! Our 15 year old did not get bored as we walked and explored the area by day and then settled down nice and cosy in the evenings and watched films and played card games in the living area. So, to summarise, if you want to relax, be in a very quiet place with beautiful surroundings and walks then this is certainly the place for you. We will definitely be visiting again as we loved this place so much.

Beautiful lodges, set in a lovely countryside setting. The Lodge was very clean, well furnished and with a hot tub. Great place for a really relaxing break. The village with local shop and pub is only a steady 15min walk away. We would highly recommend. Can't wait to return.
