Guests say

Nant Y Crogwyn is a charming and spacious cottage set in a peaceful, picturesque location with stunning views and a welcoming farm atmosphere. Guests consistently praise the well-equipped kitchen, friendly neighbours, and the unique experience of being surrounded by horses and other animals. While the property is generally clean and cosy, some mention minor maintenance issues and dated furnishings. The lack of a freezer and occasional issues with the TV and sofas are noted, but these do not detract from the overall enjoyment. The cottage offers a tranquil retreat, ideal for exploring North Wales and relaxing in beautiful surroundings.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with several reviews specifically mentioning cleanliness. However, a few noted musty bedding, stained furniture, and occasional odours from the nearby stables, which slightly impacted the overall impression.

The location is frequently highlighted as a major positive, with guests loving the peaceful setting, beautiful views, and proximity to Snowdonia and local attractions. The rural, tranquil environment and farm surroundings are especially appreciated.

Guests generally found the cottage comfortable and spacious, enjoying the warmth and cosiness, especially from the log burner. Some mentioned issues with low or uncomfortable sofas, cold upstairs, and beds being too low for older guests, but overall comfort was rated positively.

The cottage is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, but several guests noted the lack of a freezer, occasional broken TVs, and some maintenance needs (e.g., windows, bathroom curtains, sofa). These issues were minor for most, but did affect the overall facilities rating.

Guests appreciated the friendly and helpful neighbours, clear communication, and the welcoming atmosphere. While no specific mention of gifts was made, the hosts' responsiveness and the provision of local information were valued. Please note that gifts are not guaranteed.

Very disappointing stay – not suitable for familiesUnfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with our week at Nant-y-Crogwyn. We booked the property as a family holiday and, sadly, found that there were several issues which were not made clear in the property description and which significantly affected our stay. The biggest issue was the fact that the property is completely surrounded by a working horse stud farm. We were aware that there were horses nearby, but the extent of the farming operation and, in particular, the amount of horse manure immediately surrounding the property was not something we were expecting. Large piles of manure were left in the yard directly next to the property, as shown in our photographs. The smell was particularly unpleasant. During the hot weather, we needed to have the windows open, but as soon as they were opened the strong smell of horse manure came straight into the property. This also attracted a large number of flies into the kitchen. At one point we counted 14 flies in the kitchen, which made preparing and eating food feel unhygienic and extremely unpleasant. The cleanliness of the property was also disappointing. It clearly had not been cleaned to the standard we would expect before our arrival, with cobwebs visible throughout the property, including in lower and easily reachable areas. We ended up having to clean the property ourselves when we arrived, which is not something we should have had to do when paying for holiday accommodation. We also all experienced sickness during our stay, including our dog. We cannot say what caused this, but given the overall environment, the flies and the hygiene concerns, it certainly added to our worries and made the holiday very unpleasant. There were also a number of maintenance and furnishing issues. The seal on the bottom oven door was broken, making the oven door very difficult to open and use properly. The sofas were also not fit for purpose and are in need of replacement. They were uncomfortable and appeared tired and worn, making it difficult to relax comfortably as a family after a day out. For family holiday accommodation, we would expect the furniture to be comfortable, clean and in a reasonable condition. The outside space was another major disappointment for a family. The grass area at the front of the property was extremely overgrown and looked more like a meadow than a usable lawn. It was also used as a toilet area by the farm’s two corgis, meaning there was dog mess around the grass and our children could not safely use the area to play.We also found the parking arrangements uncomfortable. Although there is an allocated parking area, when visitors were at the farm looking at horses, it could make you feel as though you were in the way or an inconvenience. This did not give us the feeling of privacy or relaxation that we would expect from a holiday cottage. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the stonework and setting of the property have a lot of potential. However, the reality of staying within an active horse stud farm was very different from what we expected from the property description. We feel the property details should be much clearer about the extent of the farming operation, the manure storage immediately next to the accommodation, the associated smell and flies, the cleanliness issues, the condition of the furniture and the limited suitability of the outside space for children.Sadly, we would not choose to stay here again and, based on our experience, we would not recommend this property to families with young children. We feel that a number of the issues we experienced need to be addressed to make the accommodation suitable and comfortable for future guests.

A rustic farmhouse & a working farm so don't expect everything to be as new inside or out. Much of the furniture is old & worn but to me it added to the character of the property. The views are amazing & having the horses at the other side of the garden fence was magical. The neighbours are lovely, very friendly & helpful.I could list things that could be improved on, but we thoroughly enjoyed the farm experience & certainly hope to revisit

the cottage is unique and special. The location is beautiful. The farmyard and horses around the property give it an added joy. It is well equipped. We were blessed with good weather -I can imagine more challenges in bad weather. There were lots of info but a sheet with instructions for local walks from the house would be good
