About this property

1 Fron Uchaf is a charming 1700s stone cottage tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Parc near Bala. Full of character, it blends traditional Welsh features with thoughtful modern touches to create a warm and welcoming countryside escape. Step inside and you’ll find a home that feels lived-in and loved, beams, a crackling fireplace and elegance that gives each room its own story. The living space is warm and full of personality, with comfy seating, a beautiful working fireplace, and shelves dotted with books and board games. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook up family meals, from hearty breakfasts to slow Sunday dinners, and there’s a dining area perfect for gathering everyone together.

Upstairs, you’ll find four bedrooms, two king-size rooms (one with an open en-suite and roll-top bath), a twin, and a bunk room ideal for children, along with a family bathroom that has both a bath and a separate shower. Outside, the garden opens up to views of rolling countryside and distant mountains, with plenty of space to sit and soak up the peace. Just over the fence, you might spot a few friendly cows from the neighbouring cowshed, their occasional moo adding to the charm of this proper countryside escape. In nearby Bala, spend a day at Llyn Tegid (Lake Bala), Wales’s largest natural lake, where you can try paddleboarding, sailing, or simply enjoy a stroll along the water’s edge before heading into town for lunch.

A little further, Betws-y-Coed offers woodland walks to Swallow Falls, a browse around the local craft and outdoor shops, and some great pubs to stop in for a drink. If you’re venturing deeper into Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), climb Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), ride the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway, or take in the waterfalls and trails at Coed y Brenin Forest Park. 1 Fron Uchaf is a place that invites you to slow down, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the best of the Welsh countryside, a home where history, nature, and a touch of quirkiness come together perfectly.

The bustling market town of Bala lies within the beautiful Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and is located at the head of Llyn Tegid, Bala’s famous lake, which is the largest natural lake in Wales and home to a unique fish called the Gwyniad, a relic of the Ice Age. Renowned as a centre for great watersports including fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and whitewater rafting, Bala is also the headquarters of the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway. The town itself is steeped in history and has a range of interesting shops, inns and restaurants, and an historical Town Walk. Surrounded by the wonderful Berwyn Mountains on one side and the beautiful Eryri (Snowdonia) Mountain Range on the other, this is a mecca for climbing, walking, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities. An ideal location for touring all of North and Mid Wales including the stunning Cambrian Bay Coast with the six-mile long Harlech Beach, overlooked by its majestic medieval castle. A truly wonderful part of Wales catering for all interests.
