What our customers say about their holidays
Shauna - Verified booking
We visited the property in August of last year and fell in love.
As soon as we got home we re-booked to come back in the February school holidays and already we are looking to go back in the six weeks holidays as even our 2 year old is upset to be home. The house is so comfortable and clean, it has everything you need for your stay, it feels like a home away from home. It's also full of wildlife around the property and so quiet for being near a main road. The "traffic" isn't a problem in the slightest you get the odd few cars during the day and hardly any at all on a night. At night if you get a clear sky, go and sit and look at the stars it's an unbelievable experience if you live in a city like ourselves. The owners are lovely, lovely people and will help you with anything they can. I love the tray the owner leaves on arrival for you, it feels so personalised to the family visiting somehow! the owner also popped round to tell us a few places we could visit nearby with our children! I must also mention the neighbors as they make their own honey and it's unbelievable and their dog Finn is the most gentle German Shepherd I've ever come across he deserves a mention in this review. We can't wait to return again as soon as we can.

The interior of the cottage is lovely.
Very clean, spacious and well equipped. Brenda gave me a very warm welcome on arrival. Unfortunately the garden and proximity to the A68 meant we cut our stay short. The small grass area with tables and chairs is separated by a hedge to the very busy road so sitting out wasn't really an option for us given traffic noise. In addition, as was noted in the property description before booking, we couldn't let our dog off lead in the garden which proved a bit of a hindrance. The garden really isn't appropriate for having a dog in my opinion as there is only a narrow stretch of grass and a lot of gravel which our dog wasn't keen on! I appreciate my comments on the external space and proximity to the busy road is a personal thing and others may not be concerned about traffic noise. It was a deal breaker for us and the lack of sleep due to traffic noise right through the night (had to have windows open as so hot) unfortunately hampered our stay.

What a lovely house, big, spacious rooms clean and full of everything you need, a real home from home.
Although it was just 2 of us, it's certainly big enough for 8 and it still wouldn't feel crowded. Tastefully decorated with a Scottish charm. 2 log fires, 1 in the living room and kitchen for those cold winter evenings, a traditional Aga stove which was easy to use but for those not brave enough there's a ceramic hob and fan assisted oven. Pizza oven in the outside kitchen and the hot tub were just the icing on he cake. Contact with the owner was easy and she was very responsive when we had a question prior to arriving and during the stay. Round and about there are plenty of walks, amazing waterfalls, castles and historic places to visit. There's a co op which is well stocked 5 mins drive and supermarkets within 15 mins. Not sure if the pub was closed due to it being November but Inverness is 20 mins away and worth the visit. All in all we would highly recommend Orinside.

We couldnât have asked for better to spend our Christmas vacation.
Orrinside is just beautiful, specious, well equipped with lovely decorations up for Christmas. Some fabulous nods to the distillery next door too. We enjoyed cosy nights in with the the log fires burning and even enjoyed the hot tub under the canopy whilst watching the snow fall. The bedrooms were vey tastefully decorated and all 3 bathrooms were spotlessly clean with underfloor heating and towels, robes, slippers and soap available for us all. Communication with Emma was 2nd to none and nothing too much trouble, giving hints and tips of where to go and even giving us advice on cooking Christmas dinner in the Aga and had she even put Christmas crockery there for us to use. I wouldnât hesitate on staying at Orrinside again next time we are up and will be highly recommending it to everyone!! Thank you from us all for a fabulous stay xxx

A lovely, charming, cottage well-situated in a relatively central area of Scotland.
The house itself is nice, very clean, with a well equipped and good-sized kitchen. The bedrooms were of a good size with comfortable beds, and all of the bathrooms were nice and modern. Outside, the hot tub and pizza-oven are nice extras to have, both of which we made use of! Muir of Ord is a small village surrounded by lots beautiful areas of nature, locally and within an hour drive. Highlights include The Cairngorms (Loch Morlich is a must visit!), Bad Girl Bakery in Muir of Ord, and Rosemarkie beach. We are amazed at the variety Scotland has to offer and we barely managed to scratch the surface in the week we had. This cottage in Muir of Ord provided a great base to go exploring from and we canât wait to return in the future!
