What our customers say about their holidays

The very large double bed gave a good night's sleep.
We thought that the lounge seating was too large for the room, but this was a minor issue. All of the electrical equipment was of a high standard. The attractive décor was fresh and light. Looking out over bay, through a big picture window in the first floor lounge, probably gave the best view in Eyemouth! When we were there in August both the excellent fish and chip shop and the equally excellent Italian ice cream parlour both shut at about 7pm - so be warned! The Ship Inn is dog friendly and serves good food. The coastal walks, both north to St Abbs and south to Burnmouth, are visually stunning and easy underfoot and, if combined with the infrequent Borders bus service, can prevent the necessity of a return walk. Eyemouth's recycling facilities on the harbour front are limited and disorganised and a car trip to the recycling centre near the High School will probably be necessary. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our few days in 'General's Yard'. The high quality of fittings, proximity to the beach and local amenities such as an excellent bakery and a mini supermarket (Co-op) , a couple of pubs and the aforementioned coastal walks, make it an excellent base for a short stay.

We're unable to watch the television programmed using the instruction that was left it would not connect to the BT router .
Could get some channels using Netflix There was no clean bedding had to wash the sheets several times- Comfortable beds the whole house was well furnished outside space is important perhaps some chairs could be left buy the front door and a small table also an instrument to put your shoes into and hanging up bulky coats etc Fire alarms the one in the kitchen it is placed to near the appliances we're making toast every fire alarm went off we could not turn it off for a considerable length of time it makes a very piercing alarming sound Therefore we were unable to cook any food due to the sensitivity the alarms The instructions to use the kitchen appliances we're very complicated in the end we just give up unable to use stove- kitchen hub microwave or the - radios No outside space it's a problem the back door can only be used in an emergency in case of fire The wet room didn't seem to drain the water out after a shower the room stayed wet for hours did try to mop it up unfortunately the mop provided was in adequate However that is multiple chairs and gardening equipment , there is an adjoining neighbors who was very nosey and intrusive

The property was superb, the bed the comfiest Iâve ever slept in, and that gorgeous settee.
BUT the technology was a definite downside. It took us two days to get the hob to work - it had been left on child lock. The tv was a nightmare - took us two sessions to get it going, by which time we had missed the programmes we wanted to watch. We only managed to get bbc1 a couple of times the whole week, it kept saying no signal. Other channels seemed ok ish One really, really does not want to spend half of the holiday reading instruction manuals. So, the first couple of days were pretty stressful. It would be an idea to tip off incomers about the child lock on the hob. But a beautiful area and a superb location. And so very comfortable, so thank you for that.

The house was very well thought out with everything that we needed to live there provided to a high standard .
The wet room downstairs is great, the bed very wide and comfortable and you are just able to hear the tide going in and out a a backdrop to sleep. The views from the living area are exceptional and ever changing; great natural light. We were greeted with a lovey assortment of goodies as a welcome which had been chosen with great care.Shops, all you need including an excellent bakery opening at 6.00 am and fresh fish around the corner at the habour all within very easy walking distance. You have and the beach outside your door with people swimming in the bay as the tide comes in. Thank you for a great holiday. We have already booked for next year!

We stayed in the Generals Yard last September and enjoyed it, Eyemouth and the surrounding area so much we decided to return for my partner's birthday.
The property really can't be faulted. Finished to a standard far higher than most holiday cottages it feels more like home. It enjoys a fantastic view across the bay from a magnificent first floor picture window. Eyemouth itself is a lovely small town. Worthy of mention are DR Collins fishmongers, Lough's bakers, Giacopazzi's ice cream all of which are within a five minute walk and are truly exceptional. Eyemouth Is surrounded by beautiful coastal walks, St Abbs lighthouse and Spittal beach in Berwick to name but two. For us it's an ideal dog-friendly base in a part of the world we have grown to love. We'll be returning very soon.
