  Amazing cottage, in a fantastic location, the property is done up really well and is very comfortable.

  It's a very short walk to a lovely beach. I'd definitely recommend it. The reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is the lack of 'extra touches' compared with other places (usually cheaper) that I've stayed in, e.g the welcome pack contained uht milk and long life bread, compared with places I've arrived to find platters of fresh fruits and fresh flowers etc, the essentials were provided, but but really enough to last the week (and there was only two of us+a baby) e.g tea, coffee, shower gel, shampoo which fortunately we'd brought our own. Lack of plug sockets by bedside tables was also a minor niggle. There was no option for high chair or travel cot which again meant we had to bring our own. Also as a note for others with young kids the rungs on the banisters our far enough apart a child could very easily fit though so we were needing to watch our daughter very carefully when upstairs (pretty sure it wouldn't pass modern building regulations). These negatives are all pretty minor and absolutely would not put me off staying again, just a note for the owner that a little extra can make a big difference! Jon, the house manager was great and when we said there were no bin bags he got them to us the same day.

  location was good, about a 25 minute walk from town centre. the flat was a good size, it was nice to have some outside space but these basics were where the positives end unfortunately. The flat hadn't been properly cleaned. It seemed the kitchen surfaces were wiped down but still sticky. There was a dirty mug in the living room, carpets were dirty and hairy. We were provided a quarter of one toilet roll for 3 people. The blinds don't shut fully in the front bedroom facing the road. The outside table and chairs pictured in the photos were broken and not useable, there were a few other chairs inside and 2 of these were also broken. To have paid £106 cleaning fee for this level of cleanliness is unacceptable, especially when you're expected to leave the place clean/tidy and empty bins yourself. The bathroom has a lot of peeling paint, especially the separate toilet. Floors in bathroom were also dirty. Bedroom door doesn't close, we had to prop it shut. There's a TV but the batteries in the remote/batteries didn't work. Evidence of a cat living there which should be mentioned in the listing in case of allergies.

  Linda Cottage provides everything to support a lovely holiday in this quiet village on the island.

  From the moment we walked down the path surrounded by the spring blooming Clematis and into the cozy warm cottage our stay was made perfect. I am a regular customer of Sykes Cottages renting their holiday let’s 3 or 4 times a year and can definitely recommend the cottage. It has everything you would expect with the added benefit of a double lower bunk bed that can prove really useful for families of 5. In addition there is a very well stocked reasonably priced convenience store open until 9pm in the evening that is located less than 1 minute walk and a friendly cozy pub just 10 minutes walk away… what more could you ask for. The Village Inn at Bembridge is a must, make sure of an early visit during your holiday as you will definitely want to return there! The friendly owners of Linda Cottage made us welcome from the very start and we’re kind enough to post a flask I had foolishly left behind… nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely consider booking this cottage in the lovely village of St Helens when we next visit the IoW….

  I had a wonderful break at Linda Cottage.

  It is a very comfortable property with everything you could need in it. I had some contact with the owner via text and she was ever so helpful without being intrusive. The village of St Helen’s is quiet but that was exactly what I wanted. Even so, it had a well stocked shop with post office, a nice pub, a nice couple of restaurants and an amazing second hand/rare bookshop. And it is within walking distance of the sea which I loved! I cannot recommend it highly enough especially to people travelling on their own, in a couple or a small group/family. I remember reading others say that the staircase is quite narrow and that I would agree with - I would imagine some people would struggle with it, especially getting luggage up to the bedrooms. I also think that a family of 4 might find the lounge a bit small. And anyone sleeping in the main bedroom might get disturbed by the shop being stocked up first thing in the morning. But these are very minor points, none of which took anything away from a lovely holiday.

  An Isle of Wight gem!

  Wonderful property, superb location. Compton Grange definitely fitted the bill - offering everything we were looking for, and more. The views are excellent from every window and the rooms are filled with natural light. There is plenty of space in the house but it is still cosy. Our 3 year old grandson, on returning from a busy day out, said that he had 'missed his Isle of Wight home'. It does indeed feel home from home. It is perfectly situated for the beach, walks (from the property) and for exploring the island by car and bus (bus stops are by the beach car park). After an exhausting day, you can collapse into the very comfortable beds! Great for a multi-generational holiday. The 'welcome pack' was, well, very welcome. The oven could have been a little cleaner. We found the back door was difficult to lock/unlock. Communication was great when there was a problem with a faulty toilet flush. The matter was swiftly dealt with - thank you. This is definitely a property we'd like to return to.
