What our customers say about their holidays

The location was great and most of the cottage facilities were good, but there were some annoying problems.
The WiFi connection was very bad - our phones kept being disconnected and the TV connection to Netflix etc was impossible as it wouldn't stay connected. The oven didn't work (the knob seemed broken) so we only had use of the grill. In the main shower the head was too high and it was impossible to move (the piping came away when we tried) - this is annoying when someone of my wife's height (4' 11") wanted to shower but not wash her hair. The outside light by the back door didn't work. The radiators downstairs leaked. There was a continuous awful smell from, we believe, the oil tank and this permeated into the downstairs bedroom The owner did visit us but he only seemed interested in showing us the hot tub despite us saying we were not going to use it. It would be hard for the living room to comfortably sit 7 people even though the property is advertised for that amount. What was good was the location, the fenced in area for the dog, and the cleanliness of the property. This does seem like very negative feedback but we did enjoy our stay and these are relatively minor issues that could easily be addressed by the owner.

Lovely property.
Andy was very helpful and available if needed. Excellent cafe (The Rocking Horse) at the end of the lane. Great steam railway in the local village that we used several times to get to places rather than driving. The property itself was fantastic. We asked Andy if he could move the beds around to suit our requirements which he happily did before our arrival. Fantastic views. The hot tub, garden and bbq were a welcome addition. Only a couple of suggestions - a better mirror in the en-suite bathroom, and a mirror in the downstairs bedroom would have been useful, as well as some shelving in the shower to put all your stuff on rather than putting it on the floor. I think there should also have been a hair dryer in the downstairs bedroom but that was missing. Minor gripe, there is a livery stables next to the property so quite a lot of coming and going, cars driving to and from, but on the upside it was lovely to be able to watch the horses in the field! All in all we had a wonderful, relaxing holiday, and I would highly recommend this property.

My family and I had the most wonderful stay at Watermead Lodge!
The lodge itself was absolutely beautiful, set in a peaceful and serene location that allowed us to truly relax and unwind. One of the highlights was watching the charming steam trains from the West Somerset Railway pass by the garden â it was like stepping back in time and added such a unique touch to our stay. Our dog loved the vast garden to run around. In terms of getting around, things were really easy, and if you like walking, then this is the place for you. George and Ash, our hosts, went above and beyond to make sure our experience was perfect. We had a welcome pack to greet us, which was great, but overall nothing was too much trouble for them, and their attention to detail made us feel truly welcome. Watermead Lodge is undoubtedly a 10 out of 10 when it comes to location and setting. We can't wait to come back and stay again!

The lodge is perfect for a break away.
Hidden within the Somerset lanes with easy access to the coast and countryside, I spent my days walking and exploring. Dunster is a delightful village and the beach was great for me and the dog. If you are a steam train buff the line runs right by the property - unfortunately there were no trains running in January. The fenced garden was perfect for my dog and it would be perfect in the summer for star gazing. The owners were really helpful, a great goodie pack on arrival and checking that I was OK during storm Isha. They live on site, are available to help but leave you to your own devices. I hope to return when the steam trains are running to enjoy the garden, sunsets, walking the lanes and visiting the coast. If only we could control the weather!

We absolutely loved our stay at Watermead lodge.
The hosts were so welcoming and we arrived to scones, Prosecco, dog biscuits and other essentials, which were a lovely touch. The lodge is finished to a really high standard and built by Ash himself; we loved hearing about how he had built it. They have thought of everything that you need there, including a fully enclosed fence around the area which was perfect for our dog. Our dog particularly enjoyed making friends with the sheep through the fence. Really comfortable beds and we made lots of use of the large dining table for a board games night. We didnât get much chance to explore the immediate area, but it was handy to have a short commute to Minehead and Taunton. We will definitely be back and strongly recommend.
