  This was our second holiday in the last 12 months at Little Bower.

  We love it. The cottage is very comfortable, clean and cosy. It is ideal for a retired active couple such as ourselves. It is perfectly situated being just off the main street of Hawes and next to all facilities such as groceries etc. This is especially important to us as we do not own a car and travel to Hawes by train and then the excellent Little White Bus service fetching and taking us to the remote Garsdale train station at the start and end of our holiday. We were very impressed by how friendly, helpful and efficient the cottage owner's daughter was in sorting a problem with the water heating after our arrival. It was fixed by sorting the timer promptly the very next morning by their appointed tradesman. This was at no inconvenience to ourselves as, by arrangement the tradesman could access the cottage without us needing to be there. This was very helpful to us as we had planned to take the early bus to Leyburn for a day out and enjoyed a lovely day there. We have been holidaying at Hawes for over 30 years and for most of that time we came with our touring caravan and our 2 boys and stayed at the Brown Moor site. They are now in their late 30s and have their own families and we no longer have a caravan. We intend to come back twice each year and look forward to spending these breaks at the Little Bower.

  We really enjoyed our stay at 6 Lock View - the views were fabulous - watching the barges pass by on the canal from the balcony was really enjoyable and very interesting.

  A short stroll to the local convenience store, two takeaways (tried both the Indian Takeaway and the Chippy and both were really good). The local pub (The Mason Arms) is less than 10-mins walk away and has a great selection of local ales and good menue as well as a nice beer garden. Very convenient for Skipton (5-mins drive) where you have supermarkets, canal trips, market three times a week. A drive to Malham is a must - apparently where a scene from a Harry Potter film was shot - meant nothing to me but my daughter was thrilled by this!. Bolton Abbey is a short drive and again well worth a visit. Loads of walks right on your door step - especially great for us having a dog. Hot Tub was great and there is a Sauna room (but didn't use due to it being warm anyway!). Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone - we would 100% return to 6 Lock View.   Really clean and well equipped cottage in a lovely quiet village location, with both off road parking and fantastic views of the surrounding hills and fields with a pub within striding distance that serves great homemade food. Ideal location for exploring the Dales. Great for couples, with the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, like ourselves. Garden is raised at the back and would be ideal on a nice clear night to take advantage of, just to sit and relax and take in the wonderful scenery. Having stayed in over probably over 20 cottages throughout the North Yorkshire Dales and Moors, its up there with the best of them and when in the region again wouldn't hesitate to try to book again. Very pleased and surprised to receive a welcome pack of essentials and fresh flowers, with only being there for a weekend, thank you.

  Another superb weeks break in a fabulous cottage with everything you could hope for.

  Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated of a high standard with magnificent views. We stayed at the cottage next door last year and knew we'd be back just didn't think it would be so soon. We've made full use of all the facilities, another well equipped kitchen, enjoyed the Hot Tub sauna and spa bath. Lovely welcome pack of milk, chocolate and bubbly on arrival. Location is perfect In a beautiful village with plenty of places with in walking distance and beautiful places to drive to. Highly recommend the Sunday roast at the Mason Arms Also a Fish and Chip shop, Indian and a quant tea rooms. Which is a must to try as they are all fantastic Also there is a well stocked village Co-op. The hosts were very friendly, and helpful. I'm sure we'll be back again in the future.

  I was given information from Sykes on contacting the owner for the key code number for our stay.

  The day before we contacted via the number only to find that the person on the end of the phone was in CYPRUS I was charged 65p as this was made outside my plan and I was unaware. She rang her mother to sort it out. Needless to say I am not happy. Please can things like this be ironed out. The window in the bedroom was twisted and could not close properly so we had a towel stuffed to stop the draft. There was no heating in that room. I have been advised that this has been addressed but not sure if anyone checks. Please could this be passed onto the owners of the Little Bower and make sure they are NOT OUT OF THE COUNTRY when visitors have been given this contact. It certainly taints my use of Sykes as a means of booking a cottage.
