What our customers say about their holidays

Unfortunately, a group of 5 of us stayed in this town house and were less than impressed. We had decided to bring an additional guest given the property is advertised as a 5 person stay . As we had increased a 5th person staying, the total price shot up by £100. This was seemingly rather steep however, I completely understood given the additional cleaning and washing for the sofa bed being used. The bedding which had been supplied for the sofa bed was not fit for purpose, there was only a dirty and stained quilt without bedding on. I contacted the host with pictures and asked for bedding to be provided to ensure our guest could sleep comfortably. As I didn’t receive a response for 48 hours I chased the host and was told that they were too busy to respond that weekend and the message had slipped through the net... Additionally, the twin beds aren’t fit for purpose and make a huge amount of noise despite minimal movement. Meaning two of our guests had extremely disturbed sleeps. The downstairs cloak room is also in dire need of a refurb especially the toilet itself. The seat is half the size of the toilet bowl and is barely fixed down. There was one positive to the stay being that Canterbury is a beautiful place and the location is ideal. I would only recommend this property if it is merely a bed to rest your head - once the twin beds are replaced that is.

The location is close to High Street and we could walk to everything we needed. Aldi was a short 7-10 minute walk and there are plenty of restaurants in the area. It was nice checking in and out with the lockbox. The shower upstairs was good -- we only ran out of hot water once during our month stay. The couches in the front room provided a comfortable place to sit and visit and it looked like the place had been painted recently, so that was appreciated. We had a really hard time with our allergies while we were there. The place is old and there have been pets there, so we had a hard time with the smells / heavy air and were doubling up on allergy medication. The curtains / drapes could really use a wash. The floors are not very sturdy in some spots and the stairs are steep, so they are not ideal for people with mobility concerns. There is noise from the neighbors and people walking outside, but we realize there is not much that can be done for that. Also, some of the interior doors do not shut all the way, so they mostly stayed open while we were there and I don't know if it was just the time of year, but there were a lot of spiders in the house.

I recently stayed at this location and my experience was one of the worst I've ever had. The staff was unhelpful and only offered apologies without taking any real action to resolve issues. We faced constant stress regarding parking, despite providing our vehicle's number plate on time. In the end, we ended up racking up £175 in fines, which was incredibly frustrating. To avoid further stress, we decided to park and pay for parking ourselves, which was not what we expected since the booking was supposed to include parking. It turned out to be a complete lie, as they "forgot" to arrange the virtual parking for us. After persistently requesting a refund for the penalty tickets, we found ourselves having to escalate the issue to Booking.com. Thankfully, they were able to assist us in resolving the matter, but it was disappointing that the help did not come from the apartment host or management staff. If you have a car, I strongly advise against staying here. And if you encounter any problems, don’t expect the staff to listen or help you. It’s shocking how guests are treated at this place. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere!

This is a great place to stay for a quick dive into Canterbury. The house is about a 3 minute walk into town. The cathedral is about 7ish minute walk away. The proximity to town is great, but the street is noisy and parking is scarce. The beds were comfortable, sheets and bedding were clean, and the house is nicely/simply appointed. The kitchen has plenty of cooking implements to get a simple meal made, clean dishes to eat, and coffee/tea available. Bathrooms were clean, no mold as one review mentioned. We had two major drawbacks. For one, we arrived at 7pm and I enquired about the parking permit as all parking in town is permit only. We got two replies, but no parking permit. Luckily we caught the parking enforcer and he didn't ticket us. Second, it wasn't clear that the hot water shuts off at noon, so no hot water to bathe our kids before bed. After some reading, we tried to use the thermostat- dead batteries. Had to go buy some and wait 1.5 hour for the water to heat.

I wouldn't recomment this place despite the close location to the city centre. It was dirty, there was dust everywhere. The host did offer to send a cleaning squad next day, but when we arrived in the evening on the first day, we had to clean it to stay for the night. Also, some kitchen utensils where sticky, the pots and pans are really so old, burnt from wear and tear. The microwave was oxidised, so we didn't dare to use it. You can tell the property lacks even the minimum maintenance. The windows in the upper floor are very old and difficult to open. The host did communicate with us through messaging, but the main fault was poor cleaning and poor maintenance. To top it all up, the next-door neighbours were very loud in the evenings and late night, shouting and partying till 2am some days. Parking around the house is tricky, so not recommened if coming by car. Overall, we had quite an unpleasant experience. Thanks to AirBnb, I got the cleaning fee reimbursed.
