  The accommodation was very clean and Louise (the manager) was very helpful. However the cottage was marketed as having 'stunning sea views' but the only window which looked out to sea was the kitchen window to the side of the sink. None of the other windows faced in that direction. Indeed, all the windows on the seaward facing side of the cottage had been bricked up. This should have been made clear. It was not possible to sit inside the cottage and admire the sea. The shape and size of the kitchen was also rather awkward with the dishwasher impeding access from one side to the other whenever it was open. There were plenty of teapots - at least 3 - but not a single tea cosy. Whilst we managed with the hanging space available in the one bedroom which had any hanging space, we feel that this aspect did not meet our expectations of a luxury holiday cottage.

  Cottage rated as 5 star and cost of accommodation was high even compared to other 5 star I have stayed in. However quality of presentation of Accommodation disappointed. Insufficient and slightly grubby cutlery. Glassware needed washing before use. Dirty mugs. Bathroom cleaning needs to be improved. We left on a Sunday which seems to be a “non arrivals day” but housekeeper sent message that she would arrive at 10:15am to prepare for next guests although appeared to be no booking until following Tuesday. Seemed unnecessarily direct. Information folder contained contradictory instructions covering current , Covid and Christmas circumstances. All “attention to detail” matters which would justify star rating and charge.

  Beautiful cottage attached to the North Foreland lighthouse with 2 spacious upstairs bedrooms and lovely grounds adjacent to farmland and near the golf course, with parking for 2 cars. Great location above Joss Bay and a 25 minute walk to Broadstairs town, some of which is along the Eastern Esplanade. The lighthouse is still operational but we were not disturbed by the light nor any noise. There is no foghorn! The housekeeper Anne, prepared a wonderful welcome hamper including a bottle of wine to greet us. The lighthouse is no longer open to visitors anymore as we would have liked to look round again, but this did mean we had no strangers approaching the cottage during the day. We would visit again.

  This is the loveliest cottage experience we have ever had. The cottage itself is very nicely decorated and comfortable. It could not have been cleaner--everything was sparkling. The views from the garden are beautiful, and watching the lighthouse is interesting. The best part was the welcome basket. I've never seen anything like it--bread, biscuits, cake, cheese, fruit, orange juice, milk, cereal, eggs...what am I forgetting? It was like getting a big Christmas hamper. Thank you to the wonderful caretaker, Anne, wife of the final resident lighthousekeeper. She knows how to make her former home feel like your home. Fabulous.
