What our customers say about their holidays

We had a lovely stay at Trebarwith Strand.
Well suited to a couple who like walking/swimming. Good access to beach/coastal path. At low-mid tide the beach is good for bodyboarding if the swell is up, or swimming if not (lifeguards are present during the summer season 10am-6pm). Worth noting that the beach is covered from mid-high tide and although we saw some people swimming, you would have to be quite confident to swim off the rocks. Nice to sit on the rocks and watch the waves though. Nice food at the local pub and the surf shop sells lots of beach/swimming/surfing equiptment. The cottage is a good size for 2 people, comfortable and equipped with most of what you would need in terms of cooking equipment. The only downsides are that 1) (as noted in other reviews) the shower isn't very powerful and the height cannot be adjusted (but if you keep it on ECO, you don't get the temperature surges that others have noted), 2) there isn't any outside space for drying towels/swimming stuff or an airer for doing so inside (we hung them over the wall of the carpark opposite) and 3) the cheaper carpark is 3 minutes walk up the hill. Important note about the council car park: it is free overnight, but they no longer sell weekly tickets at the carpark, just monthly or day rates (the information on the council website is out of date). None of those issues spoilt our holiday, but we would recommend taking steps to mimimise the impact of the first two points (perhaps by fixing the shower head fitting and providing an airer) and updating the booking infomation on the third would have meant we enjoyed the stay even more.

The Sail Boats bungalow was clean upon arrival and as described.
A photograph that shows the space to the back of the bungalow would be useful to some clients so that they can see the patio area with close proximity to the Station Pub and slope to the garden wall. However, this was not a problem for us. I would imagine in peek season some visitor's to the Pub will perch on the garden wall which would be very irritating if you were on your bench outside. We had to ask some people to move (which they did), put we didn't like to ask. Basic cooking pans, utensils and crockery for two persons provided. Bring your own bread knife though if you need something to slice through a loaf. The two dining chairs should last the rest of the season with one having wobbly legs and needing replacement. All in all the accommodation was good and I would recommend it if only for the ideal sea view location. Some have described the interior decor as tired, but considering the close location to sand, water and the weather there is always going to be compromises - the flooring and skirting boards visibly affected but expected. No recycling on site! Had to use the skips at Sainsbury's. My only gripe is that the DVD player did not work properly with a brand new DVD with the film constantly freezing, jumping and skipping to a different scene. Also the freeview reception was often pixelated due to a bad connection or reception. Not a big issue, just disappointing on a cold evening in doors.

Cannot fault the location.
Been coming to these cottages for years and in fact this exact location when it was railway camping coaches. It is our favourite place to holiday in Cornwall. We have noticed our cottage (Sail Boats) is getting a bit tired in places. Beading around the floor breaking up and coming away, gaps in flooring and skirting boards, marked paint, niggles really. On the flip side it is comfortable, warm has plenty of really hot water for showers, baths and good WIFI. It was a great place to be during the couple of cold, stormy days and nights we had during our stay. The management of the cottage is very good. The mattress on the bed was very bad for us for the first 3 days of our holiday. My wife constantly felt like she was falling out of it and it completely knackered my back. I would wake in the morning in agony and even with painkillers could not stand up straight until late afternoon. We lost 3 days of our week because of that. We called the holiday company and later that day a new deeper, firmer mattress was delivered and fitted. We were impressed with the response to our query and we slept well for the rest of the week. All in all this is a good place to stay. The costs of staying here in season are now prohibitive for us so we are more likely to visit last minute, out of season when the prices are more affordable.

The holiday home was perfectly situated for the beach and Marazion and we loved having the view of St Michaelâs Mount each day!
The bungalow provided everything needed for a self catering holiday, including tea towels (not mentioned on the website) and a lovely Cornish welcome pack with milk, tea, coffee, biscuits and washing up liquid etc. On arrival everything was clean apart from the fridge which still had bits of food from the previous guests in it which meant I had to clean it before using. Also, the freezer door still does not close (mentioned on other reviews previously) as it is so frozen up (it was perfect for chilling beer bottles though!). There were quite a few maintenance issues which had to be lived with or âworked aroundâ e.g. vertical blinds in lounge have no string to open/close/turn; the catch on the bedroom window has previously been broken off so we could not open the window properly, the toilet seat was wonky, the shower seal didnât work so there was always water on the floor afterwardsâ¦. Finally, the mattress on the bed really does need changing! It is so hard that we chose to buy a thick mattress topper on the second day to ensure a good nightâs sleep for the rest of the holiday! (We took it with us!!!). These sound like a lot of problems but the location and price of the accommodation certainly eased our disappointment with the maintenance issues.

The property was not cleaned very well.
The bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in and on one night I actually chose to sleep on the sofa, as the bed was making my back ache. Some damp in the walls and always a damp smell when we returned from being out. It wasn't safe to leave any windows open when we went out as the locks on the windows were very poor and no security offered. Shower control did not work well and we had to lever it with a spoon, as other guests had also stated they did the same. Only enough hot water for one shower....then suddenly went cold, so assuming small tank. Patio doors very stiff to open. Ironing board but no iron....doesn't make sense! Although the train was close the noise did not bother us too much. No information brochures on local areas to visit or attractions. Apart from that the location was good, and the views across to St. Michael's Mount were stunning.
